LanxiviDuke 209 Frost Black Fountain Pen Medium Nib Pen with Velvet Pouch

I was really amazed at the quality of the nib and the solid feel overall. If you are expecting a lot of flex though, it takes a lot of work to get any kind of results.

This fountain pen met all my expectations as a good writing instrument.

I'm returning to fountain pens after a good few years, mainly because I now find I have more time and, as an added bonus, it's got to be better for the environment because they are reusable. I've don't want to have a big collection of pens, and don't have the spare cash to buy top brands, so I've tried a few for size in high street shops. I have also bought a few from Amazon and eBay and it turns out I like a slightly larger pen. My current favourites are the Jinhao x450 and x750, both have medium nibs, good ink flow (on the wet side is the term I've heard used by other reviewers) and both write relatively smoothly. The Lanxvi Duke is a little on the small side for me it writes less wet and the nib is slightly more 'scratchy' than the Jinhao's but never the less it is still a nice pen to write with. I will keep it as the cost is so low and bring it out now and again for a change when I get the urge.

I bought this pen to use for marking students' scripts, and i have to say it is very tactile, and warm in the hand, which is good given that I have Osteoarthritis, and it is balanced very well, not feeling heavy or cumbersome to hold. I would advice that if you purchase this item give it a little time to wear into your style of writing, as it is likely to be scratchy at first. However, after some use, it is like writing with silk. I use red ink, and I have found that Waterman's red ink works well with this pen, and does not clog up like other inks do. I love writing with this pen.
