The trap works beautifully! Not only black flies are attracted and trapped. It also traps tiny white flies, mosquitoes, and gnats!There are times when the wind blows the odor my way. However, the lack of flies, mosquitoes, and gnats way surpasses the occasional odor.

Ok, forewarning if you have never used these before. The smell is AWFUL, but they are 100% effective. Just keep it as far away from you as possible.

Have chickens in my back yard, which means there is plenty of poop and flys! Last year I used another brand and 24 hours later it was FULL of flys!!! This year, same time, same amount of flys in the yard, 24 hours later… 2 flys!!! This product does not attract flys to the bag at all. I tried this brand because of the low price, now I know why they are so cheap. THEY DONT WORK! Save your self some time and money (long term) and get the brand you know actually works

These traps work really good! I honestly don’t smell the bad smell, but we hang them high up on a few trees! They definitely help!

These work great - they catch LOTS of flies, but be prepared for the smell!!! I wasn’t! They smell like you’re standing beside a fresh cow patty. I guess that’s what draws the flies in. Yuck!

I hung a fly trap bag up last year and trapped scores... hundreds... within two days. This year I hung the first bag of the Sewanta fly trap up per instructions, which was easy enough because as mentioned as I've used these things before. Two days later not a single fly, or anything else, had entered the trap. Thinking maybe the bait wasn't dissolved enough I lightly shook the bag - which then split along the bottom seam, causing all the water to and attractant to fall out. The stench was something else.The following day I hung up another bag in the same spot. Well, this one is working great - and has trapped scores... hundreds... in a couple days. They're flying in from out of state!I don't know what the problem was with the first bag but the one hanging up now is working like gangbusters. So, lets give them back a couple stars. Still, given all the negative reviews you may want to try another brand.
