BEAUTIFULLY MADE SPEAKERS THAT SOUND EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL
First of all, let me say I have been eyeing these speakers for about a year now. Like many of you, I was on a pretty constricting budget but I wasn't about to sacrifice sound quality for cost. I have read countless review on Polk, Sony, Pioneer, Klipsch, and other brands over this brutal waiting period to find the right pure musical speakers. I sort of had the funds for them and it had been long enough so I took the plunge without ever listening to them. AND HOLY S*** AM I BLOWN AWAY!!! More on that later...Hopefully my review persuades those of you reading through all of these looking for a cheap(er), musical setup to stop wasting your time and buy these engineering masterpieces. I do consider myself somewhat of an audiophile. While not having serious experience with a wide variety of instruments and music production, I can definitely tell even slight differences between various quality of audio products. Anyways, here is my recently purchased setup for a working ($9/hr) college student:Sony STR-DH130 2 Channel Stereo Receiver(2) Bic America Dv64 6.5 Tower Speaker50ft 14 gauge speaker wire25ft RCA to 3.5mm cable (to wrap around my room and connect to my laptop)I do NOT have a subwoofer hooked up to my setup (...yet - considering the Polk PSW505 depending if I ever have $180 laying around in a couple months and depending on how these speakers break), so keep that in mind. The Sony 2 channel receiver is PERFECT for a 2 channel musical setup. It puts out 135W to each channel with .05%THD and pushes the towers to a very, VERY LOUD listening level with ZERO distortion. Also, do yourself a favor like I did and get 50ft of 14 gauge speaker wire. Just as I was wondering before purchasing, I'm sure a lot of you are wanting to know if you really need to spend the extra cash on a powered subwoofer for true 2.1 setup. If you listen to anything besides rap (where the bass notes get really low <40Hz or so based on my guess) then I really don't think you need a sub at all. My music of choice is trance or house music and I am currently sitting in my bed (in a large bedroom) writing this review while listening to Above & Beyond and Kaskade and the bass is MORE THAN ADEQUATE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. Its tight, accurate, and crisp. The mids, vocals, and highs are stunningly sharp. I swear these speakers were made to play dance music. I don't see how people can justify spending thousands of dollars on speakers that only sound a HAIR better than these BIC's that cost $250/pair. In the event that I want to add a powered sub, the receiver does have 2 L/R audio outputs so in theory I could add two subs but that would be mega-overkill. Another note, I have them just standing on medium-thick carpet and I don't notice any loss of bass... not sure if I put wooden planks under them if I would get a little more bass, but like I said there's more than enough bass. If you listen to deep-bass-heavy rap then you will be sorely disappointed (or just add a powered sub (go with a 12-inch) then you'll be good to go). (Sorry about all of the parenthesis)As for the aesthetic appeal of the speakers, they are absolutely gorgeous. How the hell can BIC be making a profit off these??? They are hefty, solid, extremely well made, and did I say gorgeous already? I was going to take the speaker grills off when they got here today but I must say the grills they come with are downright sexy (and I read they were a pain in the ass to take off) so why bother? Anyways, there's my opinions and I hope you make the right choice like I did and decide to buy these speakers. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer.

Leap of Faith!
I will boldly state that I am not an Audiophile! I listen to music religiously and regularly enjoy my home theater. Years ago I gave into my wife's demands of not allowing my Polk Audio floor speakers to be a part of our marriage. Being a kind and gentle husband, reluctantly agreed and installed NXG in wall speakers with a Yamaha powered sub. The NXG's sound ok but even with my average hearing I could hear the limitations of the in walls. I never considered that I would be single again so I sold my much loved Polk Audio LS50's. Recently my wife moved out and I started the feel sorry for myself phase. In order to find happiness I needed to take control of my life. The first bold change I made was to buy big speakers for my home theater. I was one click away from purchasing a new pair of the Polk Audio Monitor 60 series and at the last second I decided to read more reviews of similarly priced speakers. I was surprised at how inexpensive entry level speakers are and the variety of different name brands offered on Amazon. After much research I narrowed it down to the BIC America's Venturi DV64's and the Polk Audio's Monitor 60's. I had never heard of BIC America speakers and their web site is a bit under done IMO. Not a flashy web site! I was hoping the reviews would help me make an educated decision. Not the case! The reviews for both the BIC and Polk speakers were equally good and not definitive so I decided to base my decision simply on the price. BIC's were cheaper so I took a leap of faith and into the shopping cart they went! Not having the ability to hear speakers prior to buying causes a bit of anxiety but I rationalized that the cost of speakers is so low if I didn't like them I could return them and then upgrade to whatever I wanted to spend.Out of the box my initial impression was "Wow the BIC's are beautiful"! The cabinet is narrow, elegant and well built. The color is more a Dark Charcoal rather than straight black. The picture on Amazon is not flattering for the DV64's. After hooking them up I kicked on some blues and immediately noticed that my entire room was filled with clear beautiful sound. The BIC's are bright and tight with the base and I was suddenly in love with sound again. I heard notes that I didn't know existed in songs I have listened to for years. I sat in my living room with a big stupid grin on my face and submersed myself in sweet music for hours. I listen to all types of music and noticed with heavy metal the bass seemed to be a bit confused. I read that BIC America speakers need to be broken in. After 20 hours of rocking heavy metal the bass slowly started to make sense again. With every passing day the speakers continue to grow and impress me. The passive driver design works well. Over all I am very happy with the Venturi DV64's and plan to purchase more speakers from BIC America when finances permit. It's hard to believe the BIC America Venturi DV64's are considered entry level speakers. When it comes to purchasing speakers the best advice I received is this. It's not how much you spend or what the brand is but rather, do they sound good to your ears. This simple advice applies to the average listener but for a true Audiophile it depends on their budget. Audiophiles understand sounds and frequencies and can find flaws with most speakers. I am happy when my hearing aid has a good battery and I can hear a note over my constant tinnitus. I followed the above advice and it really applies to the Venturi DV64's. They sound beautiful to my ears, look amazing in my room and for the cost you can't beat them.
