Lots of fun
This is a great set, the amount of detail is wonderful on it. The box is perfect to place the castle set within and use for storage, which is a great idea on Lego's part. All the pawns have good detail and weapons, along with the kings and queens. I ended up switching the knights and bishop pieces because I wasn't too pleased with how they look. The red and white side has some questionable bishops (jesters? Really?) but it does sort of work. Haven't actually played chess with it yet, but gotta say, it is a nice piece to look at.

Loves it!
My son loves this. He has been playing chess for a long time but if you have a child who hasn't, this is a great way to learn. Great Lego quality and the box is big enough that you can store the set completely assembled and don't have to remove the figures.

Great set, horrible price.
Be careful before you buy. This was selling on the manufacturer's website for $40.00. Hunt around. $100 is crazy! Many will pay this over inflated price but don't make that mistake. Do your research.Apart from that, the set is good to display or collect minifigs. It's hard to play because the pieces are tough to differentiate from one another.Good luck getting a good deal!

Lego kingdoms chess set
Although very cute this chess set is not functionally useful. It will sit on the shelf and look cute --- but is a real pain to use for a chess game. Also- the board is way too small. Lots of money for not much

looks nice not practical
I bought this for someone who is learning to play chess and loves legos. You can not play with this so therefore it is useless. Every time you move a piece a part falls off so it is fun to put it together but not something you can use to play chess with. The makers of this product need to rethink it or send some kind of adhesive that you can glue the part together after yo put it together so that it is a usable item.

Not Convenient to Play On, but He Loves It
I bought this chess set for my son's birthday. He likes collecting chess sets. He likes the Lego Movie, the Lego video games, and we just went to LEGOLAND. He's thrilled with the Lego chess set.I knew it would be plastic. For the price, I expected the base to be a higher quality plastic. My son didn't seem to notice. All the figures are real minifigures. They have body parts that come apart and lots of accessories. They sit on the board like any minifigure would attach to a Lego brick. That means it's a little inconvenient to actually play chess with them. You see, moving pieces entails picking them up. I had a hard time doing it without pulling off a head or helmet or having weapons fall out of their hands. My son showed me how tilting them sideways first makes them come out easier. He's right. Placing the pieces means doing it just right, so they lock on, like minifigures need to do in order to stand up on a Lego brick, so moving pieces is not as easy as doing it on a regular chess set.Still, my son loves the set. I hope he doesn't lose pieces, but at least it's Lego. He could always make do with replacement parts.

Excellent set!
28 mini figures in excellent color & designs. My children loved it as it is easy to set up! If they don't play it as chess set, they play it as castles warrior together with other castles set that they have.

GREAT LEGO GAME!!
If you like chess, you'll love this version. It's fun to put together, and with the mini-figures, chess takes on a whole new meaning! Great fun - my 8 year is now into chess!
