Works as advertised - you have to reboot! (Macintosh LC III)
Gotta experiment with the dip switches and find a mode that will work for you, but patience pays off and it does the thing! First mode I tried did bring up the "out of range" message on my LCD, but it only took a couple of minutes perusing some of these reviews to find a good suggestion for a code to try with my vintage Mac LC III, and that code worked right away. I've gotten 1467 (640x480 66Hz) and 1367 (832x624) to work with this LC III.As some other reviewers have pointed out, on a lot of the old computers this thing is designed to work with, the video mode selected on the adapter is "read" at startup only, so if you want to try a new mode, it's necessary to shut down, change the dip switches, and then start up again. The computer needs the new mode selected on the adapter at the time it powers on. Takes some extra time but also makes sense. If you're patient and do it that way, you'll avoid headaches thinking it doesn't work.

Works great, instructions are not very clear
It comes with instructions designed for different versions of this. Make sure you are using the one for the 10p pages. Also it is important to note that the few macs i have must be off before changing dip settings or no display will show. Another thing to note is that I have two different CRT monitors that work with different settings on each mac but both seem to work with 235.

Have Patience - It Does Work
Another reviewer has given an excellent guide on how to use this, so I'll skip that. But this thing does work. I'm using it on a Mac IIci with a Dell 21" monitor. My settings are 1467. Dunno if this makes a difference to anyone, but the machine is on System 7.5.5 running on a SCSI2SD. Looks great!I say to have patience because it takes some fiddling to get it to work. The first few tries, even at 1467, were a bust. Somehow, though, it magically started to work and has been consistent ever since.

A must have in anyone's 1990s era Mac toolbox.
Instruction booklet was a bit unclear. By luck I think I got the right pin configuration. Works great except on reboot I have to power off my monitor and then turn it back on else it never wakes and notices the signal. (thats a problem with my tv/monitor I bet). All in all this adapter is an excellent device.

Works great with my Mac IIci
I was looking for a way to hook up a flat-panel LCD VGA monitor to the built-in video on my ancient Mac IIci. This adapter worked great with switches 1 and 4 on, the rest turned off. It worked with an old Rosewill R900J I had laying around, but it did not work on another VGA LCD I have. I'm assuming this is because the IIci has a weird scan rate and it's sync on green, and the Rosewill monitor happened to support that combination. It worked for me (yay) but your mileage may vary!

Did not work for coupling Mac IIci with VGA monitor.
Bought this hoping to get a vintage Mac IIci to work with a VGA monitor. Tried all the code combinations on the instructions as well as ones mentioned in reviews. None worked. Had to return.

Not quite what I was expecting.
Works alright in 640x480 but I could not get it to reliably work. More often than not the machine detects and loads with a higher refresh rate than my LCD can support. Good luck finding a gaming/fast LCD with a higher than 60Hz refresh and VGA connections.

Works great but the manual is NO help
I second the reviews that recommend DIP switches 1467 (along with 1367, etc). The DIP switch guidance in the instruction sheet were no help whatsoever. It wasn't until I came back to see the reviews give some DIP switch suggestions til I tried 1467 and got my PowerMac Performa to show up thru an external monitor. I haven't confirmed any of the other mentioned combinations yet but so far this one works - I'm in no rush to try the others. Picture quality is great so far. There are some reviews on here about this product being garbage but it isn't garbage if you either know from other folks what the DIP numbers are or if you can decipher the nonsensical codes in the instructions.
