Best 55mm lens! Superior to the 50mm!
I purchased this lens and compared it with Sony SEL50F14Z Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA Lens. I have to say after setting up and performing similar shots (although using f/1.4 with the 50mm) I found the lenses to be nearly identical. With the 55mm, corner-to-corner sharpness appears slightly superior (however, when operating the 50mm at f/1.8 it's a wash). The extra stop of light with the 50mm wasn't noticeable in my tests. As well, the weight of the 55mm is much less than the brick weight of the 50mm. Ultimately, with a lower cost, entirely comparable images and less weight the 55mm was a clear winner for me.

the best lens you can buy for the Sony Alpha cameras
This is, basically, the best lens you can buy for the Sony Alpha cameras. The average price is around $1k, and I got this kit from this seller for $850. It comes with some filters and other stuff, and they're decent, but the key is the lens. You'll never take a sharper picture than you can with this lens. And the bokeh? BUTTER!

When you know what you are looking for, it is a good deal.
Initially I completely misunderstood the concept of this glass and opted for return, then gave it a shot and it turn to be what I needed. I have not used all the products that came with it, but it is a good buy and I kept it.
