Great product
This is a great product for cleaning out your sand filter. I thought my filter was shot and had to be replaced. Came across this on Amazon and decided it was a way cheaper way to fix a problem if it worked. Didn’t really have high hopes but thought it was worth a shot. Put it in the filter, waited 24 hours, backwashed and bam!!!! Filter tan better than new!!!!! Will definitely buy again!!!!

Cleaned 4 filters with 2 quarts
I tried this acid wash product for the first time and would recommend and repurchase again. To start with my pool filters are 32 inches long, so I used an extra tall 5-6 gallon bucket. These things are hard to find but they are sometimes at Agway or Tractor Supply. They are called 5 gallon buckets but about 2-3 inches taller which makes the bucket 18 inches tall. Since the pool filters are 32 inches long I soaked half the filter for 24 hours and flipped the next 24 hours. Took 4 days to do both pool filters and a day to do both hot tub filters.I followed the directions using two 1 quart containers of acid wash with 2 gallons of water each. This gave me 4.5 total gallons of fluid. Adding the pool filter displacement to the bucket brought the fluid line to about 15 inches in the bucket and I added another inch of water to get me to the 16 inch mark.I actually soaked the hot tub filters first in 24 hours and they came out perfectly clean. I soaked my 1st pool filter next, flipping after 24 hours and it came out about 80-90% clean, but was exceptionally dirty going in. I soaked the backup filter that was pulled, washed and stored mid season, over the next two days and it came out about 75% clean. You can see the filters in the attached pics, note the filter on the far right is made of material that was grey to start, so it's much cleaner than it looks compared to the others. It's also 5 yrs old compared to the other 2 yr old pool filter and 5 yr old hot tub filters.Overall, I think I got my money's worth out of the $11 x 2= $22 acid wash purchase. I did see significant evaporation (last week of October) by the 3-4th day of soaking. Next year I think I will purchase 3 quarts of acid wash and follow the same process but add the 3rd quart at the beginning of the 4th day so the second pool filter gets completely cleaned.I have previously used the Leisure Time acid wash and it's as effective. Costs twice as much per quart but is twice as concentrated at 1 qt to 4 gallons of water. So, exactly the same cost per diluted quart.

Expensive but works, though not sure it's worth it
I had a minor algae bloom in my pool this summer and used this HTH Filter Cleaner to do a deep clean of my filter. I think it works well, but I also feel that I got the filter cleaner by rinsing the filter with the hose vs. letting it sit in this solution.Potentially one problem I had it that my filter is taller than any 5 gallon bucket that I had on hand, so I had to use the same filter cleaner solution twice - I let my filter sit in the bucket of cleaning solution for 16 hours, then had to flip it so the other half of the filter could sit in it. Next time, I'll try a taller bucket, but it still doesn't solve the fact that this stuff was $30.00 for a one time use (only one use per bottle)!

Not ideal for sand filter
I returned this item, it appears to be of good quality for cartridge type filters but instructions for using with Sand Filters is complicated, multiple steps and not the same as the product I usually use (from local pool store/chain) - which is a one step cleaner (pour into skimmer as you backwash the sand filter until water from backwash is clear, no suds / dirt, then just turn filter off, place filter in rinse for a couple of minutes, then off, back to filter, then on - your done !! - maybe 10-15 minutes total time). This product requires several confusing steps, and long periods of waiting times between steps with pool filter in off position - the process seems like over an hour to complete. I gave a 3 star because for cartridge & DE filters the process is simpler & appears to perform well with those types of filter media.Labeling of product is also a bit deceiving as it appears that the process for all types of pool filters is the same, easy, quick steps - and this is incorrect when it comes to sand filters - probably because you can remove cartridge type media & clean outside of pool circulation system, whereas sand needs to be cleaned while still in the sealed system, making removing excess/used cleaner a much more complex process as you do not want this cleaner to enter the pool water, it needs to be completely rinsed out of the system before u can start your filter up again - so based on this I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT FOR SAND FILTERS. Instead I would use Leslie's 14400 - Sand Filter Revitalizer, 1 qt. for approx.. $19.99 per quart - I think it uses around 4oz per cleaning - so about 8 cleanings per quart - use about every 2 months, for seasonal pools, like in NJ, 2 to 3 cleanings per year/season, 1 quart lasts 2 to 3 seasons/years.

Follow the instructions.
After I changed the sand in my filter, every morning i would wake up to black dirt particles in the pool. Backwashing would help a bit but not for long. Came across this filter cleaner on Amazon web site, decided to try it even thought the pricing was high. I installed it yesterday and to my surprise I looked in the pool this morning. NO black particles. Hope it’s a permanent fix. I’ll keep you posted

Works so well!
This stuff works so well, and I love that there are easy to follow directions on the bottle. I've never seen my filter work so well as it does now that I've used this. I will be buying this for future filter cleanings.

Works great, filters are clean, spray it on dont soak it
Works great to clean my spa filters. I put the cleaner into a spray bottle and spray the filters down wait an hour then rinse. Brought the filthy filters back to clean and white. The directions on the bottle basically tell you to use the whole bottle and mix in a bucket of water. If I spray the filters I can get 10-12 cleanings per bottle instead of 1
