Love this fan.
This fan is the quietest and most energy efficient I have ever seen. It has plastic blades, because they weigh less (reduces unsprung weight, thus they can use a smaller motor and use less power) and are shaped in a way to maximize air movement. The blades feel strong to me, I bet I could break the wood blades on the old fan before these. The LED light is "only" 14 watts but it is BRIGHT and Minka-Aire adds a nice touch of a soft-on (in other words the light turns on to full over 2.5 seconds, so it's not an instant-on floodlight. The light is bright enough to be the only light in our big living room at night - it's that bright. The remote control looks nice and works well. The soft-touch gel controls feel better than the old Harbor eggshaped push button remotes of our last fan.Best feature: It's *quiet*. On high, you cannot hear this much at all. Our wood blade fan was loud enough (and would wiggle and shake the chains) so we'd have to turn the TV up. Now we are finding we're listening to the TV at low volume levels we've never used before. So this fan uses less power, moves more air, has a brighter energy-efficient light, and looks great. And our ears are thanking us. What's not to like? If silver's not your think, they have distressed Koa as well...My only complaint: the hood for the motor/main fan piece does not fit with the shortest downrod. The instructions actually say to not use the shroud when using the shorter downrod. That's fine, but now we have an exposed black motor on top of the silver blades. Tried to make it work with shorter downroad but couldn't fit it. Nitpick though.

Cool in so many ways!
Modern and sleek, looks very nice once assembled. Not sure if it was the electrician or fan, but he said it was difficult to put together. 3 different settings, the lowest keeps me cool when I need a little breeze just to sleep. I don't have AC so this was a life saver during the recent heat waves. Very very quiet which is nice, so I can leave it on while I sleep. The LED light is super bright on the highest setting. It's still pretty bright on the lowest setting. It's more white than warm color. Even though the blades are plastic they look nice and not cheap. I like it so much I'm contemplating buying another for my living room.

Great looking fan, couple install suggestions.
Was looking for a replacement kitchen fan, and was looking for something more interesting than the items available at the local big-box home improvement stores. Also needed a light kit that would not hang down terribly low as the ceiling in the space isn't terribly high. Found this bought the silver version, installed it today. Also picked up a wall control (Minka Aire WCS212, 3-Speed Reversing and Up & Down Light Dimming Wall Control), to replace an older wall control from the old fan. At first I thought the unit might hang too low for the space, but it included a shorter rod which worked great. Installed easily enough with the included instructions. Be sure you observe the order of the instructions, as if you don't mount the blades BEFORE hanging it (which I nearly did... ya know... instructions are for amateurs right?) you're in for a shock when you see how they actually mount. Was initially a little put off by the plastic blades when I opened the box, but hung up and installed they look awesome. The included remote works great as an additional control device, but I'd advise the wall control as well for normal use. The unit has no on-device controls so if you were to lose your remote... yeah don't do that. Considering 2 brown ones for the living room now.

Great unit, light failed, vendor gave a full refund even though it was out of warranty.
We bought this light/fan about 2 years ago. It is beautiful and quiet and worked great until recently. However, the light recently started to flicker to the extent that it almost was flashing. Amazon connected me to the vendor, the Better Living Store. Even though the unit is out of warranty, BLS sent me a new receiver, which they thought would solve the problem, free of charge. However, it did not fix the problem. I asked them to just send me a new light unit. They said they couldn't because the new units are not compatible with the old fans. Instead, they refunded the entire cost of the fan/light. I use the refund to buy a new version of the same unit, which they told me has the new, improved LED light module. When I got the new unit, I checked the light unit. It appears identical to the old one and has the same model number. When I plugged it in, it worked perfectly - no flicker. So my score takes the following factors into account: 1) the light/fan is great in design and worked great for 2 years, 2) the light failed after 2 years, 3) the vendor went out of their way to solve the problem, at the expense of a full refund, 4) the vendor gave me incorrect information about the light. Because I like the fan design so much, and the vendor's heart is in the right place, I am giving it 4 stars. But if your light fails, just get a replacement light unit - 17 Watt LED, Model No. LKL1102-17, Made in China.

Lots of air, lots of light
We have this in an 18' x 20' room. It puts out plenty of air, especially on high. We actually have to turn it down because we get too cold on high! The light is dimmable and is quite bright on the high setting. So much so that we rarely have it turned all the way up at night. I'm impressed with this fan. Love the look, the light output and air output. Initially I thought I'd hate the plastic blades but that makes the fan lightweight and it looks like metal when installed.
