Amazing night vision for the price
This thing is awesome and for the price! Has a good zoom, love the fact that you get full color in nightvision, very clear optic built in ir illuminator is kinda week but works, Will eat batteries up if illuminator is left on the whole time, I can easily see 150 yrds or more in total darkness with illuminator, farther with good full moon light or ambient light from the city, atn has great customer service, they actually call me about every 6 months to see if everything is working great, if a want or need to upgrade or if I have any ?'s not many companies do that! I would get this one if your just getting into night vision or get the next model up.

not recomended
I do not recommend this item. The image clarity was pretty poor I am thinking that the 6x magnification had a lot to do with this. In a range where the IR had a good bit of use the 6x was too close to really utilize this. Ultimately, the image in the 0 to 50 meter range was washed out or hard to adjust to with this much magnification. Between 50 and 100 meters the IR had trouble lighting up the area and the 6x magnification was still a bit to much. That range is really the sweet spot for this unit though any further and you need an additional IR source. All in all the 6x is too much magnification for this tech, I feel that 2x in this unit will probably work decently for the limited range of the IR light and the limited picture quality, I found that in all situations that I used this device I got better results when allowing my eyes to adjust to the darkness and use traditional binos if magnification was needed. Too me that makes this item as a NV device useless.

Needs a bit more development...
The image quality is roughly equal to a gen1 intensifier tube style night vision device but the light amplification was not nearly the same. The only sharp image was the center of the screen and was maybe ~25% of the image areaOutdoors at night in the city, I had to use the IR illuminator to get any image at all. I have a standard gen1 monocular and side by side it was better than this digital unit. The unit I got was usable but had a significant flaw in one portion of the screen. Construction seems OK but it certainly would not be waterproofIt seems that digital night vision (at least at this price level) needs a little more work.I returned this unit and will wait a bit longer to try again

Good to Go...
While nothing is perfect, these are good for the price. I purchased these for my BOB. Something that was cheap and effective. I am very aware that these are Gen 1 but they get the job done. There may be many reasons why others are having issue with there NODs, I gather everything from actual issues with the device to not knowing what they are doing. The NOD that I received has been flawless. I have no cons other than if you are looking for a cheap and effective night vision solution, one cannot go wrong with these NODs. These get a "Good to Go" from me. For those who are having issues, get in contact with the manufacturer. I believe there is a two year warranty and from what I have read the customer service is OUTSTANDING! Semper Fidelis people.

This thing is awesome
I bought this without very high expectations. Particularly I was concerned about image quality. It is, for me, as good as optical. There's a lot of noise in really low light. If I point it into a dark shadow where I can't see any detail at all I can see what's there, but it's a bit grainy. That's without the illuminator. With illuminators it's a sharp image. I bought it for home security so illumination is not an issue. There plenty of illumination, you just can't see it without something like this. I have no regrets for the price.

Expensive Kids Toy
I read a number of reviews on this before I took a chance and bought the "Used" one for $100 bucks. I took a shot and should have listened to the reviews. It works once, only when you turn it on the first time. Then you have to let it sit for an hour or so before it will work again. The range is short and without the IR on you cannot see past your arm. I will keep it because my kids liked it, but like I read in other reviews SAVE your money and buy a real quality piece and enjoy it.My search continues and my savings is piling up for the next DVN I purchase...

Excellent GEN 1 product
Excellent night vision in the darkest of circumstances as well as in daylight as long as there is not 100% sunlight; will work in 100% daylight provided that you adjust the gain wheel almost all the way to stop. Good range and scope of field for most uses.

Would not recommend for hunting...
Biggest complaint would be the poor focus of the monocular. I didn't expect high dollar quality but did want some clarity... I have a ATN military monocular and love it, their inexpensive stuff is not impressive.
