Works great!
Bought this to replace same item that was damaged in a recent flood. Works like a champ but at a much better value than getting another from Home Depot. Arrived very timely too!

Replacing an old friend
My old makita gave out after years and countless hours of maintenence, building, creating, and hanging out of my tool bag. But I didn't want any other brand or different type of drill, I wanted the save one with the hammer drill. Found it. It's like I just cleaned up my old friend. Works great.

Works well!
Seems sturdy and built like it should be. Used it repeatedly for a few weeks to wire wheel rust off of pipe fencing and to drill some holes. Had no issues with it so far.

Great drill for overhead work, feature packed, powerful, NO bit holder - it’s “ala carte”
I own a wide variety of Makita 18v power tools including tools as esoteric as the Makita 18v caulk gun to a dual Makita18v battery chainsaw. This Makita refurb brushless motor has some wallop, it’s got every little design feature you could want. Drill, hammer drill and screw modes, a torque collar to allow fine installation of finish screws, a belt loop (see photo) and 2 level variable speed. It’s even got a forward facing light that is trigger activated. This drill works fine with the 3 amp and 5 amp 18v Makita batteries and even with a Generic Vanon 5 amp 18v battery. So the question becomes “what is this Makita drill motor lacking”? The same thing EVERY Makita drill motor (new or refurb) is missing. The bit holder. I like to keep a double sided Phillips and slot bit and a double sided #2/#3 square drive bit with all my drills. I HATE going on a bit hunt, especially on the top few rungs of an extension ladder. For some unknown reason, Makita makes the bit holder an ala carte luxury purchase on EVERY drill motor. The Makita bit holders are hard to find online, they are $5-$7 when you can find them and they often don’t come with the metric attachment screw. Why on all counts?I took the bit holder off my 12 year old Makita drill (see photo) that the new one replaced but I want a new one with my drill!! If I knew Makita did this 20+ years ago, I would have invested in a different battery powered tool manufacturer. Try to find the OEM bit holder online…….This is a 5 star product all day long with the bit holder. I’ll pay the extra $5 - just include the bit holder. But Makita refuses and that makes this a 4 star product due to this simple oversight. Hope that helps!
