The jar was open, lid lifted off without twisting.
All Darbo products have been excellent but I won’t get to try this one. The strawberry and the apricot spread is delicious. The star rating is based on those.

This cherry spread is da bomb
This lovely fruit spread is delicious on toasted bread or croissants. Loaded with real cherries and has just the right tart / sweet proportion. I discovered this product while at a hotel that served the cherry goodness in those teeny weeny little jars. It was the D'arbo brand, and it was so good that I didn't even consider other brands. Seems pricey but to me it's worth it since I cannot find it locally.

Old World Austrian Sour Fruit Flavor
I cannot find anything in the U.S. that comes close to this. The flavor is rich and tart. This is not a sweet cherry spread. It is a sour fruit flavor that Austrians use for pastry to create a sweet and sour blend. It reminds me of my grandmother's homemade sour cherry pastry filler. Worth the price, in fact it's a great bargain.
