NOW Foods Pet Health, Kidney Support Supplement, Formulated for Cats & Dogs, NASC Certified, Powder, 4.2-Ounce

NOW has created a wonderful formula for Cardiovascular health of pets. It not only contains the essential amino acid of taurine, but dandelion root and Hawthorne for heart health. So glad I found this on Amazon after my pup finished her heartworm treatment. This formula has been integral in helping her rebuild cardio health.

I was looking for something with L-carnitine and CoQ10 because I read that they help cats that are hyperthyroid. I tried another brand's “dog & cats” capsules that were too big for cats and the cat wouldn't go near the food even with a speckle of that in the food. The other ingredients in this supplement by NOW are a plus for my 15-year-old senior cat.This one mixed with water, makes a very nice broth which add to my cat's wet food. She ate her food as usual which is a big deal!It is too soon to tell about results, but I trust NOW for my own supplements for years, so I am sure the ingredients are good quality and will have the best chance to be helpful.[Update]It has been at least two weeks, she loves the taste! If I don't give it to her, I will definitely hear about it! It makes it easy to mix in other things like Cosequin, fiber, and Miralax. I wish NOW would make a standalone broth without the supplement ingredients, so I can give it to her more liberally. I cannot attribute to this supplement 100% due to other changes, but she is doing great, and I am confident this supplement is a key contributor! She looks more lucid, more independent, has better appetite (added a bit of weight that she needed), and she even gets the zoomies every once in a while.

I believe in NOW products. I have used them for years. I know the importance of these nutrients for dogs especially Taurine, so I continue to use this product. Only problem is that it clumps. I have had to literally break up the clumps with a fork. They should at a minimum put a drying packet in this product, but would be even better if it were in capsules you could open or pill your dog with .

I wanted to love this product for our soon to be 14 yr old SugarBear. I bought this to support his heart function after a MVD diagnosis. I love NOW products and use several that are designed for humans. This product has great ingredients but unfortunately misses the mark in packaging. Within less than two months the contents began to clump and have hardened into a concrete consistency. Although it is packaged with a dessicant, it can't do it's job due to the flimsy flip top lid. I don't think it gets a good seal. I'm using a fork to break up the product but it just breaks into gummy clumps. I still have quite a bit left, but now I'm wondering if the ingredients are even any good anymore. I will be looking for an alternate cardiac support product for our sweet boy.

The powder is messy and has to be hidden in food. Whatever you put in your GI tabs, use the same to press this stuff into tablets.

Yummy! my cat loves the flavor of NOW Cardiovascular Support in her wet food! I suspect the reason it got lumpy over time must have been airborne bacteria attacking the broth.When I got a fresh bottle I put some in an airtight spice jar and kept it in the fridge. The rest is kept airtight in the freezer. Maybe I don't need to freeze. Been using it from the fridge daily for 5 months and the spice jar still pours the powder smoothly, no lumps!P.S. Under the airtight lid of a spice jar is a removable cap for sprinkling. Some caps have an opening for pouring into a measuring spoon. The kind that pours is handy.

My 50 lb mixed breed dog has an enlarged heart. My vet did not seem too concerned but I immediately began looking for a supplement to help him out a bit. Due to the recent controversy regarding Dialated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) developing in dogs being fed grain free diets, due to lack of taurine, I felt adding taurine to my dogs diet will ensure he’s getting topped up on anything that he’s missing. Although, I follow the “food is medicine” philosophy and feed him organ meats that are taurine-rich, I want to make sure he’s getting what he needs and this supplement does that. It is NASC approved which is a standard that any otc supplements I give for my horses or dogs has to meet. NOW brand is trusted and I feel confident in the quality that my dog is getting. I will continue to order.
