I needed a replacement for my RC-764M remote because the volume button wasn't working properly and it was getting on my nerves. After reading several reviews, I'm apparently not the only Onkyo receiver owner with this problem. I couldn't quite confirm that this remote would work for my HT-R680 receiver by reading the reviews, but I figured for the price and with free returns, I might as well give it a shot before spending more money on a different remote. I can confirm that this remote will work perfectly with and HT-R680 receiver and will replace the RC-764M remote. All the buttons and functions work with ease. I didn't have to program anything, just put batteries in it and it worked perfectly. Hopefully this review helps someone else. Please return the favor; review this item if it works/does not work for you with a different Onkyo receiver.

I bought this to verify that the remote that came with a new Onkyo NR636 was defective. I didn't want to spend a lot & I didn't want to wait 30 days for a remote that ships from China. Although this remote doesn't have all the features that the 636's remote has, at least it turns on the unit, adjusts volume, changes input, etc.Now I can go to the seller for the receiver I received and have proof that the remote that came w/the unit was bad.
