Works correctly
Used to replace the worn out controller for my ONKYO HT-R380 receiver. Works perfectly.

Works with HT-R680, replaces RC-764M remote
I needed a replacement for my RC-764M remote because the volume button wasn't working properly and it was getting on my nerves. After reading several reviews, I'm apparently not the only Onkyo receiver owner with this problem. I couldn't quite confirm that this remote would work for my HT-R680 receiver by reading the reviews, but I figured for the price and with free returns, I might as well give it a shot before spending more money on a different remote. I can confirm that this remote will work perfectly with and HT-R680 receiver and will replace the RC-764M remote. All the buttons and functions work with ease. I didn't have to program anything, just put batteries in it and it worked perfectly. Hopefully this review helps someone else. Please return the favor; review this item if it works/does not work for you with a different Onkyo receiver.

Works as advertised.
Works as intended. Though the plastic feels cheap and the rubber buttons are weird. I took out the circuitboard and placed it in the original remote, so now it doesn't feel like a replacement. Beware though, that if you want to do the same, the replacement you are sent has weak plastic and will break when you open it. The original has better plastic so it will survive if you are careful enough. The inside of the original remote need slight modification in the front, on the underside of the top piece to fit the new circuitboard. And the circuitboard from the replacement needs a slight modification, by extending the hole where the screw goes through.I did this myself and it took about 10 minutes to have a remote that was like "new" again, but yet familiar since i used the original casing for it.10/10

Works with the HT-R390 but not the highest quality build
HT-R390 is what I own and it worked right out of the envelope without having to program. It’s cheaply built and the buttons feel off, I don’t know how long it’s going to work but it beats paying 35 bucks for the alternative.

Best replacement on AMAZON
I replaced my remote due to the volume issue with the OEM remote. It was delivered the next day. After opening the box, the remote worked straight out of the box. Best replacement you’re going to find anywhere & great price.

Works with my Onkyo HT-S5100/HT-R560
As both the original Onkyo remote (RC-707M) and it's replacement (RC-711?) for my system are discontinued, it seemed my only option was a universal programmable remote. However, this model seems to provide all the functions that I use, in particular, being able to access the "audio" controls (bass/treble/late-night mode) in addition to basic functions...power, volume, input selection, audio mode (Dolby, theater-surround, TV studio, stereo, mono, etc.). I'd give it 5 stars, but as I haven't tested all functions yet (or know how long it'll last...), can't. And the price was right.

Can NOT use remote control codes to program for other devices like OEM.
The OEM remote would allow you to program the TV, BluRay, Satellite, and other buttons to control those devices. Although this remote will let you change inputs on the receiver, it WILL NOT allow you to program the remote to control the device.

No Go with HT-RC230
ADDENDUMIt DOES work. Ignore what I posted previously. The remote does work with HT-RC230.Initially the remote did not function so I reached out to the seller. They immediately sent out a replacement with an appology, which I appreciated. But it turns out the problem was my receiver. After some on-line digging, I reset the receiver via the following:-Turn on unit.-Hold "VCR" button-Push "On"-"Clear" should appear on the screen.Voila... Remote works.Ignore everything below:Does NOT work. The remote does not work with my Onkyo HT-RC230. Put remote in "receiver" mode but does not control the receiver. Will be asking for a refund.
