Incredible stoneware plate, mug, and bowl set - with a bit of upfront labor/hassle
This review is for the Denby HRL-16PCRG Harlequin Dinnerware Set in Red/Green.First off, all of the stoneware dishes that come in this set are pretty incredible. They are no doubt some of the most high-quality dishes I have ever used. You can really tell that Denby puts a lot of work into each dish being crafted perfectly. These luxurious dishes are also very practical - they are dishwasher, microwave, oven, and even freezer safe. Also, this is just my opinion but I think that the color of these plates are more of a dark pink rather than red and the green is more of a green-blue color. The colors of the plates are gorgeous, nonetheless. This is just a note for someone who may be purchasing these dishes for their colors. The only issue with these dishes was how Denby placed two individual stickers on each dish. One of the stickers was small and contained the Denby logo. The other sticker was white, was much larger, and also contained a barcode. For the most part, the Denby logo sticker was easy to peel off without leaving too much residue but the large barcode sticker was for the most part impossible to peel without leaving a ton of residue. I also did not like how the stickers were placed on the top of these dishes instead of the bottom because after peeling one of them off, it appeared that it removed a top-layer of the dish’s glaze with it. We had to resort to using Goo-Gone to removing the sticky sticker residue for most of the plates. I do not understand why such expensive dishes in a set come with two individual stickers on them that are so difficult to remove.Anyways, after we were able to remove the stickers and their residue, these dishes have worked wonderfully. I hope Denby can reconsider/re-engineer the stickers they place on the dishes.

High Quality, Large Size, and They Look Great
If you’re like me, you probably have multiple sets of dishes, each of them earmarked for specific events or occasions. We have the fancy china that stays in the cabinet for most of the year and we have dishes designated for parties. But most of our dishes are of the casual variety and an excellent set for this use is Denby HRL-16PCRG Harlequin Dinnerware Set.With this set, you get four each of cups, bowls, salad plates, and full size plates. The colors of green and red are featured on each item and I like how they alternate from piece to piece. The smaller plates have a mostly red color, with red on the surface and green on the edges. The larger plates have the same colors in reverse. The same is true with the cups and bowls: The cups have red on the outside, green on the inside; the plates have green on the outside, red on the inside. The alternative colors is cool and a much better visual option than having everything match, which is what you get with most sets of dishes. As for the quality, it is top- notch and this is evident by the design and by the weight. Each item in the set is sturdier and heavier than most other dishes, and this gives me greater confidence that the dishes will not break as easily and cannot be knocked over as easily, creating a spill in the process. In fact, it is this heavier, sturdier design that I first noticed when I opened the box. I was even tempted to set these dishes aside and save them for a special occasion, but I decided instead to place them in our cabinet for everyday use.A good part of the reason I like using these dishes for everyday eating and drinking is the large size of the cups and bowls. I love to eat cereal, but most of my bowls are not that big and I often end up filling them up with a second, partial helping. I don’t need to do that with these bowls- they are large enough to hold a heaty serving size. The same is true with the cups. They hold a large amount of beverage and can even double as a serving vessel for oatmeal, yogurt, etc due to their larger volume.Dishes are essential and everyone needs a good set of plates, bowls, and cups for everyday use. Denby HRL-16PCRG Harlequin Dinnerware Set is definitely the set for me and it has already replaced most of my other casual use dishes. The quality design, large size, and other factors make this a set of dishes perfect for most any kitchen.
