Longevity, is as stated, every 6 months, but have been able to use them longer.Value, a bit pricey, but with the quality of the filter the taste is worth it.Installs easy, and quickly even if you forget how to install it. No leaks and the water pressure stays consistent.Have used comparable, other well rated filters. Researching different filters for impurity filtration, longevity and cost. And the quality is really good, but you can taste the difference with GE Filters.Ended up getting really sick, and ended up very sensitive to taste. Tried replacing our water filter with a new comparable one, filtered water from other sources and a variety of different bottled water. Their taste varied from yuck to ok. For health reasons, it was important in our household to drink plain water. We also and we live in an area where there are water issues and filtration is important.Tried everything we could think of as GE filters are pricey. However, once the filter was replaced with these filters, the water went back to tasting great!When using comparable filter you loose access to that chip that tells you when to automatically replace the filter. Which is pretty apparent with any filter as they all become clogged with their use and you loose water pressure when they need to be replaced.Different places have different impurities and everyone has a different pallet. For our household, this is a quality product.

So I’m writing this review mainly as feedback on how my call into GE Customer Service went. My filter started slowing significantly after about 30 days of us. I called the customer service number linked to my order and talked to the Bodewell (they purchased GE I think).Anyway, the service was phenomenal. Rep was super nice and bottom line is she quickly sent out the replacement with no hassle. She had my address information and everything right in the system.You guys get 5-star for treating a customer right!

Better than the ones ordered directly from the distributor. I ordered 2 at almost half the cost directly from the company that makes them. My wAter/ice maker wouldn't work. Bought these cheaper than local big box stores & they worked as expected.

Works perfectly. Have to be careful on these filters because if they are older they won’t work. I didn’t realize they had a shelf life. Purchased one from another site, brand new in its packaging but it was past its shelf life and wouldn’t work.

I purchased this filter, the exact filter that came with the appliance. When installed, it did not resolve the replacement error message. Upon talking to GE customer service, she informed me that often times if the filter does not come from their authorized distributors, there is no guarantee it will work or communicate with the appliance. Since this was my first replacement, she sent a new filter along with a "bypass plug" complimentary. I refunded this filter. I received their filter and got the same results. Installed the bypass plug, same result. She said that if I didn't get water with the bypass plug, then the problem lies with the appliance. Service tech is scheduled for next week. This leaves me to believe there was absolutely nothing wrong with this filter.

It’s not that it’s a bad item, they just won’t work on some GE refrigerators because they require a GE filter and if you don’t get an authentic GE filter, it will read error. Amazon was very good about refunding my money.

works great. this is the 3 filter that i tried and this one is the best. the other said compatible with the xwfe but they were not. the "E" has a chip this is needed and will for work with you the chip. had it in one day. very easy to install. you do need to run a couple of cups of water thru to get the charcoal and water bubbles out and the water pressure will return. fits prefect. may cost a few cents more but the value is worth it. the others caused error messages and stoped the water.

Easy to install. I have had other filters for other brand name refrigerators that are less expensive than these. These work well but I wish they weren't so pricy. I use a lot of water from my fridge so I use these up in 4 or 5 months instead of the 6 that they are advertised to last.
