[Midori] MD series notebook jacket H222~W320mm made of goat skin

I purchased this cover for a Hobonichi Cousin, while is a full A5 size journal (W: 148 x H: 210 x T: 17 mm / W: 5.8" x H: 8.3" x T: 0.7"). The cover is slightly tight on the book at first, but does stretch to fit in a short time. It is quite light in weight and slim in fit, not at all bulky, but very good protection, which is just what I wanted for this planner.No surprise that this item by Midori, is very finely crafted and high quality goatskin leather, which is somewhat softer and thinner than cow leather. This one is vegetable tanned, which means it comes in a soft natural color which I would call blush. It deepens into caramel shades of brown with time and use. The journal covers simply slip into slip pockets at the front and back, and stay secure. There is a small pen loop--and I do mean small--nested inside the back cover. I'm not a fan of pen loops, but if you are, just know that it is quite thin. Best for a pencil or thin pen, or you can slide a pen clip into it to hold a fatter pen. There are two slit pockets, on in front and one in back, to hold stencils or small papers.Like all leather goods, this item requires care for optimal appearance. Will it fall apart without it? No, but gentle care with a good product such as Effax Leather Balm (containing lanolin, beeswax, and avocado oil) will maintain and even enhance the softness and pliability of the leather, while adding a bit of moisture/stain proofing. I live in the desert, so this is especially important for me.One caveat: my product arrived severely distorted and damaged. I hate to waste a quality item, particularly when in case of leather, so I chose to try and restore it rather than return, and took the time to treat and shape it into something close to what it was originally. That is fine for me, but it was no small feat. I do wish the seller would package the item so as to avoid damaging such a fine product. Amazon is great about returns for this kind of thing, so it wouldn't keep me from buying.

Very nice! Surprised to find that I was able to get this thing to fit on the MONSTER of a notebook that is the nanami seven seas cross grid. It’s a tight fit, but I’m sure it will loosen up over time! And after like 2 days I can already see it isn’t so tight anymore. I don’t know anything about leather, but as an ignorant person, I can say it’s very pretty and soft. It does get marks with water since it’s untreated I think? So this cover isn’t as much of a “rough and tumble” item. More like something a bit delicate but beautiful you’ll treat with care for years to come (: now is it ridiculous to spend 75 dollars on a journal cover? Yes. But for a stationary and pen fanatic like myself..... do I have any regrets? Absolutely not.

This notebook cover is just right, minimal yet sufficient, no more no less. I absolutely love it. Its weight is so light that when holding the package I almost thought the box was empty. Yet the quality is very satisfying: gorgeous smooth leather and even stitchings. I was a little concerned when one of the reviewers showed her cover ruffled around the edge. Fortunately mine came in perfect condition.
The cover is slightly larger than the MD A5 notebook, so very easy to get in. If you love the Midori MD A5 series, this cover is a good investment to upgrade the overall writing/drawing experience. 
My only regret is that I had waited too long to make the purchase.

Upon receiving my goat skin leather notebook cover from Midori, I sat there for a moment and thought about how much fancier I am than anyone who doesn’t purchase this cover.First, you people seem to be doing it wrong…Put your cover in the sunlight for 12-24 hrs (or more) on each side prior to use. That will change the soft leather just slightly and give it more protection.Google this cover and how to initially care for it… and your impeccable taste will be rewarded.

This cover was not as good a fit as my B6 slim cover because there is zero wiggle room. You have to get the book covers in the sides exactly and they don’t slide as easily as they should. I had to separate the leather a little on the edge inside the back sleeve to get the cover slide in all the way. Despite that I really like this cover because it’s a nice leather and doesn’t add bulk to the notebook. I followed the tanning instructions and rubbed on a thin layer of EVOO. The leather is going to age beautifully.

The goat leather is quite a bit thinner than conventional covers. It is thin and luxurious to the touch—and it smells great; the whole thing oozes a high class notebook cover. Unfortunately, however, mine arrived with this strange “wave” to the bottom of the front cover. I understand that this type of work involves the natural condition of the leather in play, but after looking at the pristine advertising pictures, I think i’ll return it...

I was looking for a no-fuss, minimalistic leather cover for my Hobonichi. I hesitated to buy this because of the lack of reviews but luckily was able to find reviews elsewhere (The Journal Shop). It's a bit tight for the Hobonichi, which is thicker than the Midori MD notebook this was made for, but it stretched in just a few days. (Fits the MD perfectly right out of the box.) I've conditioned and "tanned" it (it's undyed) and it's a gorgeous caramel color now. I highly recommend this case if you don't need all the frou frou of most A5 cases (too many pockets, etc). I did end up sewing my own bookmarks on though, and I wish the pen loop could accommodate a thicker pen off the bat, but mine did stretch nicely. Lovely product!

Very nice texture and feels good touching it. Smooth, matte and soft color. Has a little weight to it so notebook can lay flat once inserted. Absolute love!

割高感が気になって購入をためらっていました。文具店で他のメーカーのA５本革カバーを探すと、意外ともっと高価なので、それならこちらの方がいいや、と今回やっと購入しました。やっぱり手触りがいいです。シワがありますが、革の味としていい感じでした。ペン差しが細くて華奢で使いづらいので、手待ちのMＤノートバッグに入れて、そのボケットにペンを収納しています。

高価なものなので悩みましたが、思いきってライフのノーブルノート用に購入しました。サイズ感問題なく、しっくりと馴染んでいます。また、アピカのプレミアムノートでも同様にフィットしました。a5サイズで100ページ程のノートであれば、結構カバーし得ると思います。後は経年変化を待つのみです。ご参考まで。

少々高めの価格設定ではありますが、シンプルで素敵なデザインで重宝しています。　難点はペン挿しの内径が小さいのでここに挿せるペンが限定されます。もう2～3㎜大きくなると嬉しいですね。

日記用に革のノートカバーを探してました。手触りがすべすべで意味もなく触ってしまう(笑)ゆっくりと育てていきたいですね。
