This book is for advanced quilters.
The pictures are beautiful so I'm keeping the book. Some of the instructions are vague, like how to make the faces. I may be able to use some of it but I'll have to figure it out how on my own.

Truly amazing!
Wow! What amazing art! I am not a quilter, but an appreciator of beautiful art. Although I will never make a quilt, I was very curious how these were made, so I read through all the directions so that I could understand how Meri did this. Very clearly written with great close-up photographs that help even more. I recommend this to any quilter who wants to make a beautiful piece of art. But I loved the book just for the joy of seeing how this is done.

Want to expand your collage skills? Buy it!
What I love about this book is the fact I am not an artist. I see depth and values but have never figured out how to get it done on paper, cakes, fabric… you get the idea. Reading the first 25 pages, I had an aha moment. If you haven’t made a collage quilt, I recommend taking a class offered by a local quilt shop. And if you like it, then I definitely recommend this book if you. The author recommends different mediums that might not make sense if you think traditional quilt. Bottom line is I was so impressed with only the little bit I had read, I contacted a pal to extol this book’s virtues. We both love collage & want to expand our skill set. We, at the same time mentioned the patterns we want to use with the ideas presented. Can’t wait to apply the techniques to my current in progress collage. It’s a keeper.

More than landscape, covers people too
I’ve been following this artist on a face page for a while and really admired her quilts. I ordered the book and was really Impressed with the detail in the book. I got really excited When I found the section on her paper doll approach to people so this covers far more than landscape. It’s really two books in one. I’m working on some portrait quilts and will be able to use her techniques with that as well. First quick run through..book is well organized and lots of good illustrative pictures included.
