I bought this product brand new the carburetor doesn't work or something because as soon as it gets hot it shuts off took it to a shop they said it needed a new carburetor it's brand new I can't ship it cause I've already put gas in it and they haven't even offered to give me another one I'm out all my money I definitely do not recommend this product

First I would like to say that this is mostly MY FAULT. I purchased this almost 2 years ago and left it sitting in the box. If I had taken it out of the box and tested it I would have found out that the engine was broken and could have had it replaced under warranty, MY BAD. Their BAD was selling me a completely defective product to begin with. To start I added oil, pulled the spark plug, added just a bit of oil through the spark plug to coat the piston rings. I then SLOWLY & GENTLY pulled the starter handle to crank over the engine (no gas yet) to lube the rings. I heard loud CLUNKs from the engine, then it seized. I took off the pull start so that I could reverse the crank shaft direction. I was able to free up the shaft, but then when manually cranking I continued to hear CLUNKs and then it seized again, after that I just gave up and purchased another engine. $175 procrastination penalty. After I swap the engine I might be happy with this product, but that is a few days away. Now I wish that I had purchased that extended warranty. Lesson learned: If you are not going to use a product immediately, just return it and get your money back. UPDATE: I purchased a new engine and the compactor now works as expected. Good value for a home owner.

I purchased this compactor in April 2001 I've used it many many times I did my whole driveway with it I compacted several areas where I built structures today I'm fixing to make a patio and extend my back porch also compacted the base for a sidewalk it has worked amazing do your oil changes and if it sits change the fuel before starting it it'll last a long time

It's OK for the price to do small jobs. The bottom foot only has the one plate most tampers has a double foot I guess that kind cost more. It's good for starting out it will compact the ground I'm going to take the rubber pad off the bottom and see if it works better. One thing I don't like is the throttle cable the vibration will move the throttle cable from fast to slow I'll try to tighten the screw to see if the throttle will stay wide open.

I really didn't want to buy another piece of equipment. But with the cost of rental and the conflicts with my schedule I can buy this for less than a week rental. The compactor arrived undamaged and needed minimal assembly. It starts easily and quickly. The only issue is the throttle has a tendency to vibrate down. I'm sure I can remedy that easily.

This SuperHandy Compactor was not super or handy. It did not start after 15 minutes of running time as the "kill switch" was faulty straight out of the factory. Had to hire a small engine mechanic to diagnose and fix the issue. He also found foreign objects in the fuel bowl, it looked like no one had ever inspected it during the assembly process. Also, on the first use, less than 1 hour into running time, the throttle assembly on the handle just burst apart. Literally, it just exploded into several pieces. Mechanic rigged it to work so that we could finish our job, but by that time, we had wasted three hours of crew labor (3-man crew) and had to pay a mechanic for his services at a very expensive rate. Finally, once he got it running again, we found out that the clips that were designed to hold the wheels up in place also do not hold up to the vibration and they kept releasing the wheels in the middle of compaction. The final straw was when, as we were using it later in the afternoon, the muffler guard cage just popped off. Apparently, this vibratory compactor is NOT built to handle the vibrations it puts out. Cannot believe we wasted $560.00 on this piece of junk! Have no idea yet if we can return it, but we will absolutely seek a full refund for this garbage. Save yourself the headache and the loss of funds.

I was kind of hesitant to order this compactor after reading all the reviews, but decided to give it a try. Item arrived in timely manner, well packed no outside or inside damage. All of the parts were present in the box. Putting it together was a breeze, had to purchase a engine oil that was not included in the packaging. Followed the manufactures instructions, started right off the bat, handled the compacting extremely well in all rpm's. Tents to move to the right at a low speed, but easily controllable. Used it for about two hours no issues whatsoever did a excellent job. Equal or better than Home depot's rental unit. Hope it will sustain for a while. Before using it I made sure all the nuts and bolts were tide on the unit. I am very happy with this purchase and I will highly recommend it.

Worked good. Second time tried to start and pull start stuck out. Had to tear apart and spring flew out. Had to order new pull start. But it works great
