pay attention to diagram on it
I think a lot of the negative reviews on this is because of installation. Last year I installed new tines. Worked great in the front yard, but as soon as I got to the backyard they didn't work. Come to find out, it was my fault. I installed them the opposite direction. There is actually a little picture where the tines go. Make sure you pay attention to it. It will help the tines to last longer and to work the way there supposed to. I even watched videos online and people were installing them wrong.

Just Right
Easy to install. The dethatcher comes with these tines but after a lot of use more will be needed.

Take the time to learn how to replace them - it's easier than it seems - and when to dethatch
Given the myriad of 1-star reviews, I feel like I need to leave one myself. The replacement tines are exactly what the machine needs, and replacing them take a little patience but is easier than it seems. If you're struggling with it too much, you're probably attacking it sub-optimally.Helpful hints on replacing... collected from a few different YouTube videos and actually doing it myself.Wear good work gloves - slipping is almost inevitable.Once the 2 sets of screws per the housing whose tine you need to replace, use a very thin flat-head screwdriver or a very sturdy blade to separate and pry up the tine housing from the shaft on the non-tab end and only about an inch, max. Don't take it all the way out or you'll struggle to get the housing back in. Lift it up just enough to push the pin though, replace the tine, pop the pin back in, and carefully - with a mallet - push the housing back down and re-secure the screws.

Maintain your dethatcher
Somehow or another, I broke EVERY single time on my dethatcher. Every. Single. One.These were the perfect fit, and replacing them was so easy that my 14-yr old son wouldn’t let me help at all. While this may be a small purchase, it is exactly what I needed to get my machine back in action.

Poorly made from China
This replacement is awful. Worked for 1 hour before tines started breaking. I had the originals for 3 years without an issue.
