Q: Do these work on airline tubig?

unless your airline tubing is non-standard, this will work. airline tubing is 1/4" OD, as is the usual tubing for RO units. However, I have never tested tosee if it is airtight when it used in an air circuit.

Q: One of the reviewers said that these have a flow restrictor. how high a gpm do these support?

Just tested it for you, with 70psi 3' of tubing from the main supply valve and no tubing downstream of the valve (into jug) I get one gallon in 45 seconds. There is no flow restrictor. If you open the valve you can look straight through, there is a little plastic X (grid) on each side of the valve ball that would serve to block a large piece of debris from passing thru. It may limit flow to some minimal degree but not likely as much as the narrow inner diameter of the tubing, which reduces the flow as the overall length increases. (Basic plumbing)

Q: What type of plastic is this made of?

It is a pvc type material I believe. It is constructed the same as any "plastic" quick connect you'd find at a hardware store
