Works great! Love it
Purchased yet another for my Dad and he says he wishes he had one of these years ago. I can fill my mower in 5 seconds, it shuts off perfectly when the tank is full and no more mess trying to pour a five gallon gas jug into a little push mower. Great product and I must be lucky as I now have three of these and all work perfectly, fast, The batteries seem to last forever as I have not had to replace them since I purchased my first one nearly a year ago and it gets used nearly every day in my Small Engine repair shop filling gas tanks and filling kerosene heaters daily in the winter to heat my 24x60 shop.Four month follow up; I have used this unit daily through the rough winter. I fill my Kerosene Heater with 2 gallons daily, Pump four 5 gallon cans into my plow tractor every snow storm plus additional use of a full size John Deere 2040 full size with 20 gallon tank for diesel fuel, I filled that up a couple times. It also leaks hydraulic fluid here and there and I pumped 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid with it, no problem. I changed the hydro transmission oil in my Wheel Horse D-200 which holds 6 quarts of 0w40 synthetic oil and it really worked slick for that as the filler tube is hard to access. You need a long funnel with a small end and there is no way your not going to make a mess...with this pump I just used a short funnel stuck in the filler tube and the hose was long enough to pour it right in...done in five minutes vs. the 1/2 screwing with the funnel deal and trying to dump a 5 qt. jug of oil ever so slowly...just standing there for 15 minutes trying not to move a muscle so I don't spill any...real PIA. The shut off works perfectly and makes for no mess filling of the kerosene heaters. It shuts off as soon as the fluid reaches the end of the filler tube. I simply place it about an inch into the tank and it never fails and there's no mess, slick. I am purchasing two more for birthday presents coming up and I know they will love them.I heat my 24x60 small engine repair business shop with two kerosene heaters (also have an oil furnace but kero is cheaper), One is a toyo-stove 23,000 bto and the other is a toyo 10,000 btu. I have been using this device to keep those full (daily), fuel two tractors as well as one garden tractor that is very hard to fill without running over. It is a Simplicity and the tank filler is up by the steering wheel and the hole is only 1 1/2" and the tank is black. I nearly always ran it over (it even has a built in spillway so the engineers knew it was a PIA). With this pump it shuts off perfectly every time...no mess...ever. It is also VERY fast for a device powered by 3 volts. It fills my large Kero heater, 2 gallons. in less than one minute. Great device.

best choice so far
My parents have a portable generator. They are about 80 years old, still healty enough to use the electric start portable, but not strong enough to lug 5 gl fuel can for refilling. I made a wheeled fuel table for them, but how to dispense from the can to the generator fuel tank?I have emptied my car fuel tank with cheap squeeze bulb transfer pump, and then let the siphon take over, but not in this case. Height of the generator fuel tank did not allow for good siphon. !/4 inch tube on these pumps also did not move the fuel quickly enough, especially if needed in winter. They have to stand by to make sure the fuel tank did not over flow. After checking for portable fuel transfer pumps, I decided to give this pump a chance. This is initial review and I used it with water only. At this point I don't know how well this pump will stand up to gasoline. It works. It pumped a quart of water in a few seconds, and I am sure it will not be a hardship for anyone to fill 6 gl tank, even in winter. This is with 2 eneloop rechargeable AA batteries in D cell adopter shell.I modified this pump. Its tube was too short from the fuel can to the tank. I extended the hose by fitting a rubber hose to the end of the black pipe, but the extension hose somehow interfered with the pump's overflow sensor and the pump shut off with warning beeps. The overflow sensor is tiny chip or circuit board encased in clear plastic. I could see why some people had faulty pump. The sensor and the encasement are not robust. The black pipe is attached to the clear tube with plastic compression ring. The ring will slip off by prying/pushing at it with flat screw driver. I removed the wire from the tube, then, at the pump end, made a small hole in the tube, threaded the wire through the hole, and was able to reconnect the tube back to the pump. Confusing? Well, when you look at the pump, clear tube connection to the pump housing, how wire should come out of the tube, you will see what I mean. The electronic components of the pump looked sealed in.I sealed the wire hole with auto RTV and reinforced the sealer with self fusing silicon tape. There are 3 wires, blue, yellow and gray. Connecting blue and gray wires allows the pump to run. Yellow wire is probably for the sensor.I used flex tube from another squeeze bulb fuel pump I bought from this site, but does not work, faulty flap valves. It has red bulb, straight stick for fuel can and flex dispensing tube. Don't buy this, unless you can't come up with ideas for extending the tube - if you need it.The pump no longer has the overflow sensor, but no trouble turning it off when it looks like tank is full.edit: I should have added that I removed the sensor inside the black tube by punching through it. Cut off much of the sensor wire, taking them out of the tube as I mentioned above and sealing the ends, wrapped the wire around the pump. Not pretty, but got rid of the sensor. Later, during hurricane sandy, the pump was used many times during about 8-9 days blackout. I am storing it without the battery.
