Outdoors? Yes. Keep birds out? Not in my experience! Unless you're troubled by humming birds, the over-the-louvers cages they sell should stop the birds.

Yes, simply remove the 4 screws and the vent is easily removed for cleaning.

No, the vent to hose connection is FEMALE.. And the vent requires a 4-3/16 hole in the wall.. Standard 4 inch hole is too small..
