I had previously purchased a pair of these walking shoes about 18 months ago and have been wearing them throughout the year in the cold of winter and the heat of summer. Because the shoe is lightweight it doesn’t feel restrictive or a hindrance to completing many miles of hiking. It also comes high enough around the ankle to be comfortable and supportive without effecting my natural walking movement like some others do.Although this shoe isn’t waterproof it is easy to clean with a light brush or sponge and it is pretty hard wearing as I’ve walked hundreds of miles in them and they are still going strong and getting more comfortable as I’ve worn them in. Of course the best thing about this particular purchase was the cost being less than £70 whereas I paid over £100 for my first pair. These are just for back up when my first pair eventually retire and become garden boots

Fantastically comfortable shoes. Good wide toe-box for those with wider feet.Got a long haul hike in the near future and will add further reviews when done.Update: Right, I have owned these now for over a year and can give a proper opinion.First, they are still the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever worn. The arch support helps with those long haul hikes. I easily walk 25 miles in a day without any discomfort.Second: They still look good. There is minimal wear & tear. The brown colour I chose helps with this a little I think.Third: I am not a fan of the laces. While they are tough and super super durable, I'd rather have a set that is easier to tie, and keep tied.Overall I am more than satisfied with these shoes, and will definitely get myself another pair when these fall apart (likely not any time soon).Update2: 4.75 years later and still going strong, despite continous hiking AND becoming my everyday shoes. No holes, no rips, etc,... nothing!

Not waterproof and very slim fit.

I'm really happy with these wide-width walking shoes. If you're looking for shoes that fit wider feet, these are a good choice. They're comfy and great for lots of walking.The heels could use more cushioning. They're not as soft as I'd like, especially on long walks. This isn't a big problem, but it's worth mentioning.Even with this small issue, I'd recommend these shoes to others. If you need wide shoes that are good for walking, these are worth the money. Besides the heel cushion issue, these are great walking shoes.

The colour is more dark brown than the colour in the picture, very nice comfortable shoe. I like the leather parts to it as they provide more flexibility.

These are well made and very comfortable. I normally wear a UK size 12 shoe and following other reviews, that suggested that these are on the small side, ordered a UK size 12.5. This was a good move as they fit just right - I probably could have even gone up a full size, but they are snug, not uncomfortable and are not rubbing in any areas. They look smart, for a casual shoe, and are of good quality. They are not too warm (as I have experienced with other shoes of this type which are waterproof) and when worn recently in 40C heat were still comfortable being worn all day. An excellent product - I'll buy Merrell again rather than going for a cheaper shoe only to regret it.

I have had these hiking shoes for a month. l was very pleased with my purchase until it rained.This was when l found out that one my shoes wasn't waterproof. As l purchased them for hiking in England in the winter being waterproof was my first concern. Now they are useless, so disappointed.

After a search for this style of shoe that Merrill put out years back, I was excited to find that someone out there still sold this style of shoe. Since I had a pair for about 15+ years, I wanted another pair because they fit comfortably on my feet, gave me the arch support that I needed and stood up to the many hiking trips that I had taken them on. After receiving this new pair, they fit just right like the old pair I had. I may end up ordering another pair as a back up but wish that they still had the many choices on colors. But these will do.

This shoes fits well and is very supportive. It is great for walking, hiking or anywhere. This is my second pair. They last a long time and are worth paying a little more.
