Lessens your burdens
This pill caddy is good for someone who forgets to take their pills, but who’s not so far gone that when they hear the alarm, they don’t know what’s going on. So, keep that in mind. The patient has to have enough of their faculties that they can go and get the pills out when the alarm sounds. It’s pretty easy to set up. The directions are fairly clear. One thing to keep in mind: it matters what time of day you set this up. My mom does a.m. and p.m. pills. I set this up in the middle of the day. So, the next alarm that would go off would be her evening alarm, so I made sure that her evening pills were the first ones to come around when the machine rotated. This has only happened once, but one of her pills got turned sideways and actually got stuck, so that when she turned it upside down, all of them came out but that one. And she’s not cognizant enough to notice and make a point of digging that pill out. So, I don’t think it’s going to be much of a problem, but thought I should point it out to be thorough.I really like this. So far, it’s working great. If your loved one forgets to take their pils routinely, this might work for them. The alarm is loud enough (there are different volume settings), and I love that simply taking the action to dump the pills out turns off the alarm. That really helps reinforce the taking of the pills. Can you imagine if there was a big button that would shut off the alarm? People would shut it off b/c it’s irritating, then they might forget to take the pills. So, I love that feature. My mom’s only been using this for about 3 weeks, but so far, it’s working great, and I’m definitely glad I bought this. I just hope it’s a long time before my mom gets to the point where when the alarm goes off, she says, “What’s that beeping sound?”

Works exactly as it is supposed to
I really like this item. It allows my mother to be independent with her medication regime rather than paying her facility hundreds of dollars to dispense her meds to her. Setting it up isn't completely intuitive but the instructions are very clear on how to do so. This is the third one she has had. She damaged the first one by getting it wet then the second one didn't work correctly and wasn't reliable. They graciously allowed me to return it for this one. This seems to be working just fine.

Very helpful
Have only used for a few days but so far, so good. My only negatives are that the dosage rings don't stay on very well. They are paper that just have tabs that you bend over the edge and they don't really hold it down. These really should be a peel & stick type material. The other thing is I think the instructions should have clarified that it matters which order you set your alarms in. I just set the morning alarm as A and the evening alarm as B. I had filled the compartments as directed. The first slot is the am slot and it showed the next alarm was pm so I wondered if it would automatically move two slots to the evening slot but it did not so it opened the am meds for the pm alarm. I had to unlock it and move the compartment ring to rectify the problem. But after that it has worked perfectly. My mom is no longer confused about her meds. When the alarm goes off, she is able to get all her appropriate meds and can't access any other compartment. It keeps her from questioning herself and getting upset.

Perfect for Managing Medication from Afar
This thing is awesome. My father-in-law lives in an independent living facility, but I manage his medicine. He’s become forgetful so I feel it and the alarm goes off two times per day with his proper dosage. All he has to do is lift the container, tip it over and tap it on his hand for the pills to come out, and the alarm goes off. The alarm volume can be high for him to hear it in another room. It’s perfect.

Buttons to set clock don't work - updated below.
After waiting 2 weeks for it to arrive, it was pretty easy to set up the pills for 2x a day. However, once I had all the pills in the dispenser and the batteries installed, the buttons to set the clock and alarm would not work. SO frustrating. It will be going back.Update: After looking this over and over, I finally figured out the problem is with the directions. I was going in order of the directions in the insert, which has dosage ring directions, then medication, then installing the batteries, locking & unlocking the cover, and THEN setting the clock and alarm -- AFTER the cover is locked. That doesn't work. Duh... You have to have the cover open in order to use the buttons to set the clock and alarm. To be fair, on page 10, it does give all the info in the proper order, but that was after I had painstakingly followed all the directions in order on the pages previous. So don't be like me, go to page 10 and go in that order. It seems to be working well right now, so we will keep it.

Fabulous device for people with dementia!
This item is just phenomenal. It can be used for up to nine times a day dosing. The alarm can be turned off, low or high, and a high alarm is enough to wake my friend who has dementia when she is in another room. Conveniently the alarm will keep going for 30 minutes until the device is tipped over and the pills are dropped into the hand or a container. My only suggestion would be that they have two keys instead of one. I tied a long bright pink ribbon around the key so that hopefully it will never get lost. I would give this item 10 stars out of five!

The amount of Alarms
At first the dispenser was easy to set the clock and alarm. Now I’m able to still set the clock and Alarm but can’t adjust the alarm back to 1 of 1 keeps saying 1 of 9 with no options to adjust. I’m going to try to turn upside down take out batteries and re install them to see if it resets to 1 of 1. I have the one time a day ring installe, so i’m confused why this changed?
