Amazing photos!
This is an excellent book if you are looking for high-quality, interesting, well-researched photographs of an SS armored unit in action. I can't add much to the other reviews, but wanted to contribute my five-star rating. The pictures are some of the most interesting WWII photos that I've seen, and the author does a great job describing the action and details shown in the photos. There are only a handful of maps, but they are also excellent. Other than the photo captions, there is very little text, but what there is does a good job describing the background to the operation and the operation itself. My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to get more text describing the operation along with the photos, but not a big deal--the pictures and captions tell most of the story.

Absolutely Fantastic Book!
Wow! Received this book today and I have to say this is one of the best books I have ever purchased. RZM has always published quality material but Douglas Nash and Remy Spezzano have really done themselves proud with this book. The photos are superb and the text well written. Apart from each photos story I especially enjoyed the comprehensive background on the photographer. I do want to say as well that the paper and binding quality are also first rate. I worry when Amazon ships books sometimes but this arrived in mint condition. Thank you and I look forward to future publications.

Doug Nash wrote another great WIKING book, filled with actual troops he write about pictured in action.
Astoundingly clear photographs which make the battle group look like it was yesterday. I follow the history of the 5th SS and this is a very fine collector grade documentary filled with excellent scenes of the actual German Army in action.

Absolutely a worthwhile addition to my library
Crying with joy? No... really... my eyes are just watering. I love the smell of printing fluid in the morning. The book is that fresh. The backstory is interesting about how these pictures really came to be. They aren't propaganda pictures They were taken by a professional photographer serving as a regular soldier in between his daily duties. Glad to finally see them in order & with correct captions along with a heapin' helpin' of unpublished shots. The maps are very well done; uncluttered & very usable. Also glad to see RZMs use of real pictures in the short biographies rather than those bogus painted caricatures in their older books. Most pictures are wonderfully reproduced while some of the larger images seem to be severely cropped &/or blown up just a tad too far as they are noticeably grainy (i.e. see series of the SdKfz. 251 #111 pp.134-137). I'm also not a big fan of spreading a single picture over 2 pages. What's in the crack? As with their Arnhem volume, this is a big book that may not fit in the average size enclosed bookcase. For some reason both of the hard covers are warped, possibly from the shrink wrap which may also have tweaked the binding or something making the pages not sit flat with the book open. It now lays on a table with about 50# on top for a few days.

One of the nicest books I've ever bought
simply stunning. the best RZM book out without question. The photos look like they were taken yesterday instead of 70 years ago. The paper is high quality and the overall book is one of the best I've ever seen. Well worth the money for anyone interested in german armor or WWII in general.
