I am using this as a cold weather heat cover for my Camp Chef pellet smoker and for that purpose it works well. The 4'x6' size folded in half gives me a double thickness and covers the entire door, top, and sides of the smoker and really helps to keep the heat in and reduce pellet usage in cold weather. I use some super strong magnets to hold it in place. It doesn't shed any fibers and yes it discolored a bit where the smoke gets to it but that was expected. Used it three times and so far it's holding up great. Should last a long time.

I purchased based on high review ratings. Blanket should work as intended, however, it won't last long. When you initially remove it from packaging, use gloves and definitely open the package out doors. The blanket has fine fiberglass fuzz all over it, it won't shake off, you'll have to pull each clump off manually. If you don't want to go through the trouble of taking it off, just make sure you have gloves on any time you handle the blanket. The quality control is poor as you can see in the grommet placement and stitching. There are multiple places where the stitching goes right off the edge fold.Update Oct. 2016. --I changed from 3 star to 4 Star rating since this blanket is still holding up and working great (for insulating the pellet grill).

At our home we have our bar-b-que next to a beige painted wall. Over time (and a few accidents) the wall has become slightly blackened and sorry looking. Instead of constantly re-painting I decided to try out this blanket. It is perfect.It is a very generous size with grommets all around the material so that we can thread a cord through it and then affix it to the back wall behind the bar-b-que. It is shiney on one side and dull on the other - I assume there is no difference in the level of protection since there was no indication on the packaging - and hangs very nicely. The color blends well enough that it doesn't drive me crazy, and now I can leave it up during the summer and take it down in the fall with no damage or discoloration to the wall.The price is outstanding and the delivery was within 48 hours of my order. I can't speak for other applications, but for me it is the perfect solution for not having to look at soot on the wall and providing a little extra protection when cooking outdoors.

I have a radiator in my apartment bedroom that bangs and clanks continually. It remains hot all the time, as it has no on/off dial. I can't sleep with all that noise and heat, so I bought this welding blanket and wrapped it around the radiator. Works wonders! It completely muffles the sounds, and stops the heat from roasting me. This is probably against all known fire codes, but it sure works. I unwrap it occasionally and check to make sure there aren't any terrible burn marks. So far there haven't been any burn marks or even middling brown marks. If you try this, do be careful when unfolding the blanket as the fiberglass is messy stuff and will get on your carpet, clothes, skin, etc.

Great value for the money. I purchased this blanket to use in the winter to help insulate my pellet grill while cooking.

I can't believe the quality of this item compared to its price! It is made of very heavy, thick material and has nice grommets around the edges. I am very happy with this purchase!
