KOMELON Tape Measure - 30ft MagGrip Measuring Tape with Magnetic Hook & Impact Absorbing Rubber - 7430

Dropped it 80 feet straight down onto hard concrete. Twice. Still works fine. 80 feet is a very long distance to drop something, as it must have been moving very fast when it hit the sidewalk. Very impressed. If you subject it to extreme heat, and shower it with molten steel Sparks from a torch, it will catch on fire and continue to burn. It's not a large flame though. Easy to put out. The case is fairly well melted but the button still clamps the rule from sliding. I like this tape the most because it is far less bulky than anything else on the market, and it weighs much less also because it doesn't have a lot of extra body encasing the mechanism. This is the second one I've bought. It's 25' but maybe you shouldn't pull it out the entire distance after you've been using it for a few years, because it doesn't appreciate that as much. Really this is by far the highest quality tape measure that I have laid hands upon.

First off, I am a professional commercial carpenter. I used this tape like crazy, if you are familiar with top out drywall work you know how many measurements, quickly have to be taken, over and over again. All day, all week, for a couple months on a high school remodel. From that to using it with a blade to rip drywall for large soffets and steel stud wall and soffet building. Used it for layout on the floor, walls and ceiling/deck. Used it to score tons of border acoustic tiles. IT DID EVERYTHING GREAT. I could be in my lift 6 feet away from a metal stud, shoot it out until the strong magnet lands on a stud then drive the lift in the opposite direction for another10 feet without the blade/magnet detaching before I want it to. It just worked well but the best part is the way it feels in my hand, compact, not bulky, the texure of the plastic is nice. The spring/return weakened, I guess at first in my mind, too quickly so I thought about getting a different kind. Went to the big hardware store tested all of the magnetic for how they felt. Everyone felt cheap and like a club or brick or cut 2 × 4 in my hand. The movements of the blade were so overly stiff. I would stick them to metal wall and draw my arm in and out, pull at angles. JUNKY compared to my Komelon. I drove to the other big name big hardqare store, checked all them out. Junky and weird bulky feeling. All top brands, even the "pro type" editions. Some 10 dollars more, don't remember any of the 25 ft. magnetic tapes costing less. Now I think about it I could care less about how long it took before the returned slowed down because looking back I WORKED this tape heavy, it paid the rent, all day. Btw the way, the way it weakened was suddenly, it wasn't like it slowed annoyingly over a span of time and it still retracts fine if I tilt it up or push it in a litlle, I just don't have time for that in tough situations on the job. Buy it, it is sweet.

Great tape measure that is more compact than my Milwaukee one. Feels very sturdy and well constructed. I just wish it had a longer stand out.

This tape measure works great for this union carpenter. Sticks to metal studs nicely, has a good weight for carrying all day, it fits in my hand well when ripping Sheetrock, etc. I highly recommend. Will buy again. I’ll probably get their 25’ magnetic as well for use as my bigger tape when needed.

Really nice, heavy-duty tape. Can reach out over 8' before sagging, and the magnetic end is really handy. Easy to read also. Is heavier compared to regular tapes, but you get what you pay for with this one. Feels like it will last a long time. If you need both US/metric, this one's a winner.

I bought this after my tape measurer became un-readable in some areas after 12 years of use. I used this one for a little over a year for rebuilding my deck and other home projects. It was never over extended or left out in the elements. Yesterday I went to measure a roughly 12' span and it would not retract. The spring does not work. I have never owned a quality tape measurer that did not last for 10 years or longer. This was a surprise and a huge disappointment. It has a 1 year warranty, it failed 2 months after the one year expired.

This is an all in one tape that is just a joy to use. It's very sturdy and the tape can be stretched 90" beforeit snaps down. The magnet at the tip of the tape is so useful for one man operation, great feature, great implementation!The Inch/Metric scale is extremely useful and so is the belt clip. Could not ask for more.Note: This tape is heavy duty and it weighs accordingly. If you're looking for a small light tape, this is not it.
