My go-to mechanical pencil, even when I have "better" (more expensive) options
I have been using the Pentel mechanical pencils for as long as I can remember. I grew up with one of their middle of the road clear plastic pencils which I loved, but many years ago I stumbled on the GraphGear 500 and I have never been dissatisfied. I prefer the 0.5mm for everyday tasks, 0.7mm is a little too thick for me, and as much as I have loved using the 0.3mmm it's sometimes difficult to keep the lead from breaking.I love the weight and feel of the pencil in my hand, it both has a good feel of heft, while remaining light weight, and the balance is good. These are also really tough, I've never broken one, though it does have one weakness. The head is the heaviest part, so if you drop it it is very likely that the tip will hit the ground, and if it does it could bend. I think I may have bent one back successfully before, but more or less once that happens the lead simply won't advance properly... luckily, they don't break the bank which is why I went ahead and bought a six pack (before they go up in price again).I realize there is a lot of room to geek out on mechanical pencils. I'm a fountain pen geek too, I use a vintage Parker 51 for letters and important occasions, and a TWSBI for every day notes. For other mechanical pencils I have a Rotring 600 that I picked up a few years ago to be my new "go-to" pencil... but it isn't. I mean I love it, it has a nice solid all metal body, it's sleek and sexy (if you're weird like me), and it is pretty darn comfortable in the hand. But, and maybe this sounds crazy, it just doesn't write as well as the GraphGear 500. I thought maybe I had accidentally left the stock lead in the Rotring, so I emptied it and added my favorite Uni-ball Nano-Dia lead, nope. It was already in there. I have no idea why, but it actually feels like I'm writing with an inferior lead when I use the Rotring. All I can think of is that the GraphGear has a more rigid point, so it gives a harder, darker line, and more feedback. I guess if you're looking for a little give and a softer writing experience the Rotring is where you should look, but I like a hard dark line on my paper, and that is what the GraphGear gives me. I absolutely LOVE the GraphGear 500. Do yourself a favor and buy a six pack (of these pencils).

He likes them
I purchased these for my baby brother and he seems to like them, no complaints to my knowledge. I'm no artist, so I could be wrong but these seem like overpriced, fancy lead pencils🤷🏾♀️
