Rapport: The Four Ways to Read People Paperback – November 15, 2020

The diagrams made it a very easy book to understand, and the relatable examples were very easy to empathize with.This book makes other books more understandable, and I have used the principles within to cultivate tactics for professional and personal life applications.Easily one of the best books on effective human-to-human communication.

I bought this book initially, thinking it was about reading people’s body language. And while some of that is slightly a part of it, the overarching purpose was reading into the language, tone, and word choice; truly hearing what someone has to say, and listening for what they do not say.This was an excellent book. What I appreciated most were the scenarios and real-life stories shared throughout the book. Whether at home or work, in a social setting. The book covers just about every type of relationship or environment you find yourself in, and you need to communicate.This book covered the basis for learning about practical communication skills and ways to apply them potentially. I found myself shortly after starting to think of myself in terms of which animal I am. This is something so fundamental yet powerful.For the information to stick, it will require more than one read because there was just so much information to take in. But the information was presented in a way that makes it easy to apply to your life.

Well, I've had an Amazon account for years, which I regularly use to buy kindle books for my iPad and this is my first ever book review. It actually never crossed my mind to ever write a review, even though I faithfully read other peoples reviews prior to purchasing. But, this book has changed that for me!It is simply the best book on communication, I have ever read in my life. Okay, as my last purchase was a John Grisham, maybe I am not qualified to judge the field of communication books?So, let me be clearer it is actually one of the best books, I have ever read.This book is full of real-life stories, practical advice and well-thought examples, to help you improve your communication and learn to better understand how others are communicating with you.I personally loved reading every page of this book.I really cant recommend this book, enough.

As an emergency mental health clinician who works with public safety, this is a very useful perspective on interviewing, crisis intervention, and negotiations. It also provides insights into interpersonal dynamics overall.

I teach communication skills and have relied on much of the Alison’s research in my teaching, and thought I had it all down. This outstanding book gave me much greater insight into the research and application of the research in a highly readable and entertaining format.I absolutely recommend it to anyone who ever has to communicate with other humans beings.

I am mixed on this book. It has some good parts. I was hoping for more in terms of dealing with High value interrogation and more data on using this rapport method to substantiate their claim.

An excellent read. The communication principles outlined in this book are applicable to all aspects of our lives...parent, boss, employee, friend, spouse, etc. The book is well structured and easy to read. I highly recommend it.Richard Neely

Nothing you’ll be surprised to hear. Just wasn’t very impactful, found it pretty much common sense. No harm. Good advice here. Just nothing you probably wouldn’t already intuit.
