Originally released in 1988, Sacred Reich continued to progress with Surf Nicaragua EP, which boasts better production than Ignorance, as well as stronger and more confident singing from Phil Rind. The band used speed more judiciously this time, and its members continued to grow as musicians. Highlights of this EP range from a likable cover of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" -- which fits in perfectly with Reich's generally grim outlook -- to original material like "One Nation" (a call for Americans to reject racism and bigotry and work together to improve things) and the title song, a dark-humored number fearing the possibility of young Americans being forced to go to war in Nicaragua. Also included are blistering live versions of "Ignorance" and "Death Squad" - ALL MUSIC

Brilliant old-school thrash EP.
It's highly unusual for a classic thrash metal band's most famous release to be an EP, but this just happens to be the case with Sacred Reich's excellent 'Surf Nicaragua'.Released in 1988, a year after their superb debut album 'Ignorance', the disc contains 6 tracks with a total running time of 26 minutes. Kicking off with live staples 'Surf Nicaragua' and monster riffer 'One Nation', the EP also features an awesome cover of Black Sabbath's 'War Pigs', 'Draining You Of Life' and blistering live versions of 'Ignorance' and 'Death Squad'. The sound quality of this Metal Blade issue is great throughout.'Surf Nicaragua' is a fantastic record by a criminally underrated band who have been a big influence on many leading metal acts (including Sepultura and Pantera). An absolute must-have CD that is highly recommended to all fans of the genre.

Thrash Classic
Top-notch, very satisfying thrash classic. All songs killer, with bonus live stuff - they sounded awesome live too! This EP features one of the best, if not THE best cover of a Sabbath song I've heard to date. IF you like thrash, you'll love this.
