Q: How wide is the watch face? Total outside measurement?

From 9 to 3, including stem, 1-1/4 inches. From 12 to 6, 1 inch. This is a thick watch, by the way. It's a good 3/8-inch thick.

Q: How hard is it to change the battery?

I love this watch, but it is hard to change the battery because it is hard to get the back cover back on. I wish it had screws! Many u-tube videos about how to get the back cover on, and none of them have worked easily for me.

Q: How long is the band?

The band, including the watch and the buckle is 9"

Q: will this watch already be ticking when I receive it or do I start it?

No it will not be ticking. There is a tab to pull out so you can set the time and set the watch and push the stem in. Then in starts working.
