Worth every penny. Lexus GS350 AWD front passenger CV.
I'm no fan of changing CV axles and most are pretty easy albeit time consuming and highly likely to tear skin once or many times doing it... However, if you've ever worked on a 4WD system such as just about any Lexus Car, this tool and a very good slide hammer is an absolute must! The slide hammer I used was borrowed from a buddy who does auto-body-repair. This appeared home-made but did the job no doubt. Was about 10x more powerful than anything Harbor freight offered. You need at least a 10lb slide hammer to pull Lexus front end passenger side... This is the other necessity.

A sturdy tool.
This tool is resistant and strong but I was unable to pull the CV joint because it was stuck due a deformity in the shaft.

Best option
Worked the best out of any other tool. Does require a slide hammer.

Great idea but did not work for me.
I was working in a 2018 cx5 I was not able to remove the outer cv joint to replace the boot. I bought this tool to try to remove the cv joint from the shaft. I ran into a few problems. 1 the notch cross bar was too wide for the cv boot notch on the shaft. 2 when the cross bars are install they are not level I'm not sure if that would cause it to bind and you are using the tool. 3 the opening on the tool was not large enough for the splined side of the shaft to go in so I know had the thread and I was scared to strip the thread. The tool is a great idea but it did not work for me.

Most of your day to day axles will work fine
I like the idea of this tool, in regular circumstances it probably works great. In my case the cv joint retainer would not let go and the tool bent. I was hopeful it would work, but this particular axle is hard to deal with.
