HaywardSPX5500H Strainer Cover O-ring Replacement for Select Hayward Pump and Filter

Price was much better than the local pool store. It's an original Hayward factory replacement part and fits fine. I didn't realize that the air bubble that wouldn't go away in the pump strainer was there because the o-ring needed replacing, nor did I realize that the o-ring should be replaced as part of routine maintenance of the pump. I found this out when I had the pool opened this year and the pump leaked significantly from the strainer lid. I replaced the o-ring and not only did it fix the leak, the large air bubble I'd been living with for two years disappeared. With a little research, I learned that the o-ring really should be replaced at the start of each season. (The previous pump was different and I'd never had to replace the o-ring - I just kept it well-lubed.) The price here at Amazon makes annual replacement an easy thing to do.

Exact replacement for my filter and cheaper than buying local. Use water based lube when installing to prevent it from snagging or getting cut.

Stopped the strainer cover from leaking...didn't think it would, but it did. The pain was tying to determine the proper gasket.

These O-rings used to cost me about a dollar. They should cost about a seventy five cents.

My o ring had some sm cracks and was sucking air. This o ring took care of it.👍
