Using outside a gate where it is difficult to get power so batteries were the solution. The unit is built very well, feels solid and gives a really bright light. My only minor gripe is that on a windy day bushes blowing around can trigger the pir sensor but overall it's very good. Batteries have lasted for months so far.

Very easy to install. Lovely and bright. Lights angle well and the motion sensor has a good range. Wish they would have an option to stay on dim rather than go off completely but I am pleased with the way they light up our dark side passage when we need to take the bins out.

So impressed with these lights- bright - easy to fit. Great for a mobile home. We’ve bought them for home as well.

I have had 2 sets of 'wired' security lights both of which went wrong (staying on permanently) so decided to try something different. I bought these and they seem to be superb - one is front of house and one is at the back. The lights are bright enough to light up a 5-10 meter distance in front of them, the light isn't blinding but it will light the area enough to spook intruders and to light the way to the door.They don't have an IPxx rating so I did put some electrical tape around the join on the bulb unit to add further protection. They are working fine despite it raining almost incessantly every day since October. As the blurb states, they are incredibly easy to fix into place, no more than a 10 minute job with a decent drill and screwdriver. I will see how they last, how long the rather cumbersome D batteries last (a year under normal usage apparently) and then how easy they are to change, but so far so good. A very impressive wire-free option. *Update* these are still working fine, and the investment in rechargeable D cells was worth it. Taking the lights down and recharging the cells is dead easy to do, the lights unclip and slide off the bracket quite easily and the added electrical tape around the join seems to have done the trick for the the belt and braces approach on waterproofing.

I bought this approximately a year ago and placed it between my house and my garage, opposite a side door into my house. It works brilliantly for when I arrive home and need to see which key to use, or if I'm heading out with bins etc, especially with the dark nights now upon us.Motion sensor works well and picks movement up from around 15 ft away (light placed approx 8 ft from the ground). The unit provides a good amount of light for visibility in an alleyway (between house/garage) but not sure if it would be sufficient for anything bigger than a small garden, as the light wouldn't be strong enough to deter.I placed batteries in the unit when I installed it and haven't needed to replace them yet, despite it triggering several times a day for a year.One piece of advice; the PIR sensor can be triggered by the steam/exhaust fumes from your boiler flu as it condenses on cold evenings, so try and not place it near the exhaust of your boiler! I found this out the hard way and decided to move it to reduce false triggering. Luckily its very easy to mount - so additional points there!Overall, would highly recommend for areas needing lit up for brief period of time.
