Good looking journal - good value too...
A simple but striking design for this soft cover faux - or vegan - leather notebook from Notts Journal, this is good value given the quality and its appearance alone elevates it beyond basic. The 200 sheets of 100gsm cream paper within are very smooth, a pleasing thickness and feel good to write on. A ruled notebook, the 6mm apart lines seem a decent width and not too narrow. The binding appears durable and it's likely to last as long as you'd want it to.You won't find a pen holder at the side or pocket at the rear of this journal - but if you only want to use it around the home this may not matter to you. What you do get is a matching elasticated closure and satin integrated bookmark, toning with the colourway you've chosen.Given the challenges of 2020, so many people have started to document their thoughts and experiences. This journal would have appeal for vegans and eco-conscious friends - but many more besides in a world where lots of us have become more aware of planet-kind products. It arrives stylishly packaged in a kraft card sleeve; though this is shrink wrapped in plastic - not ideal - it could be removed prior to gifting if desired.Whether for yourself or for gifting, this is a good looking, practical and well-priced journal you'd be happy to own.

Plenty of room for scribbling
This notebook comes in a cardboard sleeve which is a nice thing to retain to keep the notebook protected. I'm not sure why they needed to also wrap it in wasteful cellophane, which is also a bit of an annoyance as you need to get scissors into it really to open it, something which when a clumsy oaf like me does it tends to end up damaging the paper. It's a decent quality notebook with soft faux-leather covers, a space in the spine to slot a pen or pencil, and it has a ribbon (which I would say is slightly too long, but a minor issue). The paper is of good quality. Now what annoys me a little bit about many other brands of this style of notebook is the wide ruling and great big margins at top and bottom, wasting space. If like me your handwriting is relatively small, and you also want to cram as much information on the page as possible, you'll love the narrow ruling of this one, which goes right close to the top and bottom of the pages so that the top and bottom margins are not excessive. You can cram a lot of words into this.

Nice notebook for special jottings
I got this as a gift for a friend who has lovely writing and appreciates nice things. The pink and grey cover is stylish and stands out from the crowd. The paper is weightier than your average piece of paper. Both the cover and the pages feel nice to the touch. There is a ribbon bookmark and an elastic closure, both in the same pink colour. I like the design and the colouring very much.It comes wrapped in a cardboard protective sleeve, which is environmentally good but that is spoilt but then being covered in cellophane. Why use vegan leather and cardboard and then wrap it in cellophane? The price of £7.99 (at time of review) is worth it as a nice gift, or for your own special thoughts and musings. It is the sort of notebook that demands to be kept, rather than used for shopping lists and then thrown away.
