Pentair 180008 FNS Plus Fiberglass Reinforced Polypropylene Material, Vertical Grid, D.E. Pool Filter, 48 Square Feet, 96 GPM

Our Pool Filter was the same model Pentair and that one was at least 11 years old as it was here when we bought the house. Its real age was hard to determine but it wasn't brand new when we got into this house. PERFECT - EASY Replacement. No modifications needed for a swap out at all! I slide the old unit out, put the new base unit in place, tighten the plumbing fixture to the filter base, out the filter back into one complete unit and started the pool up! Easy Peasy! Hope this one last for another 11 plus years! It has a few modification to the internal works so it looks like it will without any problem. Its been running every day for the past 5 months without ANY issues.

This unit was an exact replacement for my old Pentair 48sf filter. The old filter was 21 years old and had developed a leak near the drain plug. The new unit packaging was a bit flimsy but the unit was undamaged. I did replace both backwash O-rings and lubed them with Magic Lube and wrapped the threaded plumbing connections with Teflon tape before connecting the filter. Very happy with my purchase.

The filter itself is a good quality product but the FIRST one we ordered came predictably broken due to unbelievably pathetic packaging for such an expensive piece of equipment. NO PADDING ANYWHERE for an 80# ungainly,hard to gently move around box; the bottom (base)was broken. We returned that one for a replacement and when the new one came,the pressure guage(dangling unprotected inside the box in a plastic bag) was crushed.Back that one went because they coudln't just send a new guage(?) . The THIRD one came,and guess what, THAT guage was also broken !!??!! because no one had bothered to correct the pkging problem after it was pointed out the 1st time.(INCREDIBLE !) So in the end they sent a new guage to put on the second filter that wasn't completely broken and now our pool is finally up and running again( after having to wait 3 weeks for UNBROKEN PARTS) .AMAZON made it right ( but PENTAIR needs to rethink their shipping/packaging problem before I would ever recommend anyone buy their product and put themselves in for the grief we went through) . Amazon temporarily suspended sales for this reason and their customer service to correct this was commendable

Felt obligated. I was tired of a cloudy pool. I had an undersized cartridge filter that just wasn't cutting it. After doing some research, decided to go with the Pentair DE 48" filter. Had to do some PVC work due to changing filter types but it wasn't too bad. Once installation was complete, I mixed and added about 5lbs of DE. Let the pump run for 2 days. Checked on it on the 3rd day and was a little disappointed in the results. The pool was a little clearer but not much. I wasn't sure if I needed to add more DE or not. Figured I would leave it be a few more days. Couple days later, the pool was crystal clear. It has stayed crystal clear. This filter does an amazing job. It's been almost a month and I could not be happier with the results. My pool is a 20K gallon and this filter exceeds expectations. If your on the fence, I'd say leap!

The media could not be loaded. The first filter that was delivered arrived damaged and parts missing. The filter base was broken and the top of box was opened which parts must of fell out. The second delivery arrived without any damage to the filter despite, again, the top of the box was opened. The new filter replaced a 13 year old FNS Plus filter 48 that started to have a hair-line crack leak. I also installed a Pentair back-flush valve with a clear pvc pipe to check the water clarity during the back-flush process. The only installation diffuclty was lining up the existing piping with the valve and new filter. I had to place a marine grade starboard sheet under the new filter to keep it inline and leveled. I'm happy with the installation, especially having no water leaks. I do recommend better packaging to protect the bottom of the filter and better taping to keep the box closed.

First of all, I am a big fan of DE filters. I think they do the best job with filtration, and I don't find cleaning mine twice a year to be a big chore...in fact I find it way easier than cleaning out every little pleat in a cartridge filter system. This filter replaced the earlier model pentair, which had a fiberglass lid failure after 23 years of service. The new filter appears studier and is easier to clean, but for the most part is the same, and I hope I get 23 years out of this one too!The other thing I wanted to call out was the excellent service I received from Discounted Pool Supply. They shipped the filter to me quickly, but I later found a small but essential part to be missing. I suspect the error happened at the Pentair factory. When I reached out to Discounted Pool Supply, the communication was great, and they FedEx'd the missing part to me with overnight delivery. Now that's service! I find great service is hard to find anywhere these days, especially in the pool business. I would not hesitate to buy from them again, knowing they value their customers and stand behind their products. Bravo!

I thought I was just getting the housing unit with this purchase but everything came inside. Great quality, the appearance was what was advertised. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get value for their money.

This is a replacement for tank we have had for 20 years. Arrived fast new in box. My only complaint was that the delivery was supposed to call us and set up. They did not call or contact. Arrived quicker than delivery date indicated. Gate was closed and they left it outside our gate by street. Almost $900 item left by street. My daughter just happened to come over and couldn't get the gate open because the heave box in front of gate. We were inside gate and couldn't get out as the box was against the gate. Fortunate it wasn't stolen. We didn't know it was there. Had to call neighbor to come move it enough to get the gate open. Other than deliver, it is perfect and works great. Easy to install replacement.
