Innocence: a Dark Mafia Romance Paperback – 31 Aug. 2019

Really well written with lots of twists and turns. Slightly predictable plot but enjoyable nonetheless. Can’t wait to read sequel.

Although I enjoyed this book, I found the storyline went on too long, I had to keep stopping, and give myself a breather, it was getting rather monotonous, I shall try reading the next book, to see how the story progresses

Cora's life has been more sheltered than a nun's, but her mother was also cruel to her. Her escape to the city was meant to be exciting, but she still has to escape danger. Which is how she meets Marcus.This mafia-style story is compelling, as the enigmatic Marcus takes the pure and simple Cora under his protection, but things are not always what they seem to be, and this love story takes many different turns. Not just criminality, but sexual submission feature here.There is no HEA, as this is an ongoing series.

Overall, the book was good. The proofreading could have been better, and every other sentence had the phrase 'the gods' in it very annoying.

Okay after reading all three books I have changed my review. My original is at the bottom of this review, however I would suggest you ignore it.Give this book a chance. It is a great series and I come to love the characters. They take long to learn and grow from their mistakes, and it can be super annoying to read, especially in the first book, but it's worth it. This quickly became one of my favourite series.The first book is I'd say is slow moving but I promise you it gets better. So glad I continued instead of giving up like I almost did! Great development.*Old review*Spoilers about their relationship as I wish I had known this when I started.I love books where the guy is cold and closed off, but he softens and let's her in etc. This book isn't the case so far, it's the opposite. First the powerful man was nice to her in ways we can only dream of a guy being to us. But it is all false. He is after revenge and so he pretends to like her in order for her to marry him so then he can abuse her (sexually - like dom/sub) in order to get submission from her as his form of revenge. Of course he has developed some feelings for her and when we hear his side you can tell he cares for her. But I struggle to get through the book waiting for this abuse to end and for him to treat her right...if that will ever even happen.Cora is a difficult character to tolerate. She submits far to easily to him and has no fight in her. When she is fighting it's at the wrong times, such as when she wants the toilet. However when it comes to sexually things she doesn't say no or fight him, and I wish she would.Theres just something about it that makes it hard to read but hopefully it gets better as I continue! I'd love to actually see a stable and healthy relationship between them.

The book itself is very gripping, so much so I’m already half way through after only getting it a few hours ago. It would get full stars but I’m fairly sure it must have been translated from another language as it doesn’t all translate well.

How have I never come across this book or these authors before? This book has left me...I don't even know but just wow. I consumed it in less than 24 hours and now I need to download the next. This is well written, well thought out and the twist was a real open mouth moment, I did not see that coming!! And how can I love Marcus when he's argh I can't spoil it but just read it...like now! I'm off to can girl the authors, or stalk, whichever, I'm not fussy. Lol.

Really enjoyed listening to this great story with terrific characters
