Love the way it writes
I love this pen. My first Montblanc with this tip, my purchase before was a ballpoint and it didn't write as well. This fineliner is ideal.

Great Looking, Poor Quality, OK Service
I purchased this pen less than 1 year ago from another dealer. Within 9 months, the cap wouldn't fit onto the body of the pen. Like another reviewer for a similar model, it turns out that a metal pen body and cheap plastic threads on the cap do not match! The cap threads wore out and I returned to MontBlanc for service. The charge to repair was $170! I pushed and the price dropped to $90. I pushed and they said they would repair it for free and advised that I not tighten the pen too tight. Love the look of the pen but would probably not purchase again.

problems
I received this pen as a wedding gift about a month ago. It looks great and feels good and writes beutifully so I loved it immediately. I began to use it regularly. Today, I signed a credit card slip and capped the pen, put it back to my pocket. The next time I opened it, instead of the pen unholstering from the cap, the refill withdrew. After examining it, only one of two things could have happened. To withdraw the pen, the head must unscrew from the cap. Unfortunately, the same screwing action is used to reveal the refill. Because of this, either the head of the pen is stuck in the cap, or it became loose from opening and closing the pen over time, and it slipped out after signing. Either way, I can't believe that a luxury item like this could have a flaw like that. Why make opening the pen and opening the refill compartment the same process? Let me be clear, this did not happen while I was replacing the refill. This was during normal use, and I have never INTENTIONALLY opened the refill compartment before. This was a gift, so although I'm rather upset, I probably would have been hopping mad if I had purchased this item myself considering the price and reputation of the brand.*Update* Took the pen to an MB official store with my warranty and they happily replaced it for free without an explanation as to what happened. Problem now is that the new one does not write nearly as well as the former one I owned.

Writing Elegance
I had a classic MB ballpoint pen for 20 years and it disappeared one day (I think my son got it) I bought a grande ballpoint and I loved it till I lost it. People mention that they doubt the quality of these pens because the resin can crack. These pens are made very well and will last forever if you take care of them. High quality and un-breakable are two different things. If you drop it on cement, it will crack!I recently decided I can't deal with cheap disposable pens anymore. I decided to buy a starwalker fineliner/rollerball. I I never realized the amount of fakes out there (even on amazon). Being totally paranoid I figured it would be best to buy straight from MB. I went to the local jeweler to feel the pen and, lucky me they were closing them out and had 25% off. I wanted a resin/gold ballpoint and ended up with a resin/ platinum fineliner. WELCOME HOME! Feels wonderful, looks beautiful and the fit and finish are exquisite. I put a rollerball refill in it and writes like a million bucks. Perfect weight, perfect balance.MY PEN IS MY SWORD.
