Tip breaks
Bought this $275 rod for my son-in-law who is an avid fisherman. The tip of the final section broke 1st time out! Got a replacement and it also broke the very 1st use. As the 30 day Amazon return period had expired I was unable to send this very expensive piece of crap back!

Horrible rod
In 4 months I have gone through 4 avid trek 3 piece rods. I love that they pack down easy to hike into the river. But as far as quality goes I would advise anyone to avoid this rod. I have had 4 rods break at the tip on the eyelid joint. Each rod lasted about one month if I was lucky. For the price of this rod I would reccomend you avoid it or you will be dissatisfied just like I was with a broken tip on the river. Ontop of that the so called 15 year warranty means nothing because they charge you $50 dollars plus shipping to replace the top piece of the 3 piece rod that keeps snapping. I have owed St Croix rods my whole life never had a problem but this avid trek 3 piece is by far the worst quality rod I have ever seen them make do yourself a favor and don't buy this unless you like dealing with warranty claims over and over again.
