IT WORKS GREAT. This is not a regular hand held sharpener placed inside a motorized center. This is a well built and stylish and quiet sharpener you can trust. I am glad I bought this one. I am also glad I bought two and not just one. One for my class and one for my home. I decided on it because of the price. I had purchased another sharpener with a better known brand and when it arrived it did not work. It took me a long time to want to buy another electric sharpener. Amazon returned my money for the broken sharpener and I continued to use regular hand held sharpeners or battery operated which only lasted for a few weeks.. This is great, I was impressed.

I love this pencil sharpener. Prior to purchasing, I looked over reviews of many different sharpeners, and several of the electric sharpeners (this one included) had reviews that said they stopped working after so long, etc. I have had this for over 6 months now and have had no problems with it no longer working. It sharpens excellently, quickly and has a fairly large capacity for holding the shavings. If you are having problems with it not sharpening, check the gears and make sure they are not clogged with pencil shavings. When the container fills up, this can happen if you do not clean it out properly. But this is only user error, not malfunctioning of the product.

The only sharpener I use for m class. I love how fast it sharpens pencils! Great investment!

It works really well, and sharpens the pencils perfectly. The only problem is now it wont turn off. I am guessing a bad sensor. Given the fact that we only got it about a month ago, kinda says cheap, however I don't keep it out all the time since it is not used everyday, it is not a big deal. If I had an office and wanted to keep it out, I would have to keep it unplugged until ready to use. I still gave it four stars since it works good. I would return it, but since I am buying it due to laziness of sharpening pencils, I am pretty sure I will be to lazy to return it for a different one. =)

I brought this sharpener in Amazon Warehouse after reading the reviews. I thought how could a returned sharpener be defective? The product arrived dirty, with the shavings from the prior user. And the box didn't close properly to collect the shavings. So much for Amazon's guarantee that products are refurbished, repaired, etc. I did sharpen one pencil, which it did very nicely. But who wants a sharpener with the shavings box hanging out? I am in the process of returning. This should have been caught at the warehouse and not put back out for sale.

I've had 5 different pencil sharpeners in my high school classroom. Two manual ones, two electric, and now this one. The two manual ones broke within a few weeks of maintenance installing them. They sharpen well and are quiet, but are not durable, and do not stand up to frequent use. They also fill up with shavings quickly. The two electric ones I had only cost $10-15 each. They were loud, and always ate up the pencil instead of getting it sharp. This one blew me away. It's so quiet it doesn't interfere with my teaching. The clear container is pretty large, and you can see when it starts to get full. The best feature by far is the fact that once the pencil is sharp, you know it. It doesn't shut the machine off, but it's obvious that you're done. I spent my own money for this, and my wife (an elementary school teacher) wanted one for herself. Sleek design also looks good. I've had this one almost since the start of school (now almost over), and had no problems. I expect it to last for several years.

Finally I found a good sharpener. I am using it in a learning center, and we use a lot of pencils. This is my fourth sharpener in less than a year, and it seems to be the best of the bunch. First I got a Staples brand high-capacity sharpener that was terrible - it would routinely break the lead inside the pencils. Then I got a very cheap Xacto model that was good, but the blades didn't last more than a month or so. I then tried a more expensive Xacto School Pro that was highly rated and recommended, but was awful. It was very loud, would not really get the pencils very sharp, wouldn't be centered properly, and if you didn't insert the pencils fast enough it would maul the tip completely. So that went back.I finally decided to try this one out, and so far I'm very happy with it. It's very quiet and sharpens evenly and to a point. The only worry I have is the longevity of the blades. I'm giving it 5 stars for now, but if it doesn't last I'll come back and update my review...

after ordering this in India,discovered to our dismay that the power rating on the product was not mentioned. On receiving the product realized that it runs on 110V. We procured a transformer and believe me, we are more than satisfied with this sharpner. Being parents of a six and seven year old with Indian standard pencils can give you blistered hands but now,every morning, the kids have a good supply of perfectly sharpened pencils within minutes. Truly 100% satisfied!
