KEY-BAK Duty-Gear Retractable Key Holder with 48 Kevlar Cord, Black Textured Front, 2.25 Leather Belt Loop, 8 oz. Retraction, Split Ring

I bought this as I work in a 40-bed men's halfway house and you do not want to put the keys down anywhere and perhaps forget about them, esp. the med room key. With the Key-bak all the keys to the facility stay on my person, and I can easily open doors with the way more then needed 48-inch reach of the Kevlar cord, but only as much cord as you need actually comes out. The tension of the stainless spring on the wound Kevlar cord reel is perfect, the quality of the product is top notch, it fits easily and comfortably on my belt, and I believe this product is underpriced for it's quality and usefulness. What more can I say, I do not review many products, but this product deserved my time to review it.

I get at least a year’s worth of use before I have to replace it as the string will fray at the end. For the money, that’s not an issue for me. I have to get my keys out probably 50 times a day as I work in a prison and this serves that purpose well!

I'm a security officer which requires me to badge a lot of access doors. Unfortunately that means the cheap plastic badge reels break after just a couple of months. This badge reel fits perfectly on my duty belt with the leather loop.The cord doesn't snag ever, and it's showing no signs of breaking down anytime soon.The only thing that'd make this product better is it was easily removable and functioned as an additional keeper. I feel they're definitely missing an opportunity here. Two snaps on the back and this product would be worth it's weight in gold.

I purchased this for my patrol belt and I think it was an awesome buy. The only minor qualm I have about it is the belt loop. The belt loop attached is about 2.25 inch so it has a little wiggle room on my 2 inch belt. But the average size for a patrol belt is 2.25 so it’s not a purchase-breaking reason by any means. Super sturdy. It’s been on my belt about 2 months with no issue. The chain does not catch. The length of the chain is long enough for you attach the house keys and unlock the door after a long shift. Great purchase.

It will break with continued use. If the Kelvar should get stuck on any object, the line will break at the point of contact with your keys. Unacceptable for a product that touts security. Unfortunately, there is no competitive model out there right now, so it is best in class for its design (with Kelvar). I hope the company reads this review and rethinks the one Achilles Heel in an otherwise excellent product. Hence the 3 star rating.
