The best classic Simon experience for ALL ages.
This 'New' reissue is (in my opinion) better than the previous Simon reissue (the touch based version) released a few years back. Also, forget Simon Swipe and the recently made Simon Air. All of those previous games have issues of not responding to touches and gestures. THIS is what you are looking for. Simple button presses.Let me explain why this is better. If you grew up through the 80's then Simon was probably a part of your childhood. As an adult I still love this game. This particular unit is a retro/modernized version. All the original sounds from the classic 1978 Simon from Milton Bradley are here. But there are some differences. The unit itself is smaller, sleeker and lighter. It feels a bit 'cheap', yet durable. Now with the game itself, and this is what makes the reissue actually BETTER than the original. The original from 78' had 1 game mode (copy the randomized pattern) but with 3 difficulties with a set number of patterns. The patterns would increase with speed. So the original could be 'won' or 'beaten'. With this version, the same 1 game mode is included (simple and sweet), however the patterns are now endless and it is now played for high score, providing endless replay value. Finally, the game has three volume levels and a silent mode, perfect if you don;t want to disturb family members. In an ages of tablets and smart phones, it's nice to have this throwback to a time of much simpler electronics.

No demo AA batteries; However...
*** Even though the box says to push the color green for demonstration - the Simon we received has no batteries at all. Requires 2 x AA batteries.***That being said we bought this for our 8 year old, and his buddies. I had almost d forgotten how much fun kids have trying to beat Simon, and each others! Lol!*** If you are old enough to remember the original Simon - this is it. A little more lightweight plastic than the original, so probably won't take as much abuse as the original drop, and throw anywhere, and it still works Simon, but the same functions which is awesome!*** Don't see how you could resist introducing Simon to your kid of any age! Definitely makes a great birthday present at a great price!***At our house- Kids who are waiting their turn to play video games, or are just hanging out - tired of video games, are outside, or in the boy's room tend to pick this up out of boredom / curiosity, & then get hooked in! Lol!***We DO recommend, as a group, and individual game. Simon is awesome, and just as cool today as it was originally! Can't say that about a lot of classic toy's in this tech savvy kid world.

A perfect gift for elderly loved ones
My girl's elderly father has a new best friend and his name is Simon.I purchased a version of this game for my girlfriend's 93 year-old father who is living in a nursing facility. Based on his current capabilities and Simon's ease of use, this was the perfect gift. It is uncomplicated, has only 4 large buttons to master, and rewards the player with attention-getting lights and sounds, all while providing entertainment that challenges recall and hand/eye coordination. It truly is appropriate for kids of all ages. Money well spent.

Nostalgia at it's best
They said it was most like the original and since I have never had other modern models of this I can't really say but this is not like the original except how it looks and plays. It has a lighter cheaper feel than the original and the sound is not as robust. Other than that its a fun game worthy to pass on to the next generation of kids if you have a nostalgic element about yourself.

Best Childhood Game!
When I was shopping for board games for my nephews, they wanted games like Plumber Pants and Toilet something. However, when I came across Simon, I felt I had to get it for my nephews because it brought me hours of fun when I was young. When one of my nephews first opened up the box, he didn't seem too interested, but then when I started playing the game, and then his mom and dad started playing too, both my nephews got excited about it. It's a great game! Fun for all ages!

We LOVE this game!!!
I had bought my daughter a keychain pocket sized Simon game years ago as a stocking stuffer and we always played a couple of games.after I tucked her in and lights were out. Eventually the batteries died and when I went to replace them, the cost of the battery was more than the game so I did not.replace them. I saw this game on a deal of the day type sale for $10.49 and could not pass it up. I was worried the full size version would be heavy and the buttons would be hard to press like the older versions from 20+ years and that it would be difficult for me to hold or press the buttons. I was so happy when it arrived because it is SUPER light weight and the buttons are overy easy to push. My daughter and I are.back to our bedtime routine and we are absolutely loving this game. We have only had this game since yesterday and have already played about 50 times. I also like that this is a game that either one of use can play alone or together. I would recommend this game or.any age or ability. It also has a volume control which can be muted so that the volume doesn't bother anyone else in the room. This game is normally about $20-25 and although I only paid $10.49, I believe this game to be worth even the original price.

focus and memory are the benefits i see.
This is a great edition of the game. there are other models that you "swipe" or rely on touch tech. This is made with actual pad buttons. Guess what? It works very well. I've tried the other newer versions and most have failures when i try to press or swipe. This just works every time. Stick with the physical, the new versions suck.I bought this to help with my 10 yo daughters concentration and focus and she loves playing it. I'm not and educator, just a father, but gameplay style with this item, seems to be a learning exercise to me. It can't hurt :)
