First time using this oil filter
I tried this oil filter out for the first time and I don't think I'll be buying it again. The filter is really good, but it's expensive. I bought the filter for $15.83 and now the same oil filter is $21.82 no thanks. Edit: Now it's $26.47 what a rip off.

The Boss of Oil Filters!
Background: When I was younger, my dad would always buy the cheaper Purolator filters that worked okay before the 2013 acquisition from the German filter company Mann + Hummel. Now, with Mann + Hummel you can expect Purolator Filters are great everyday filters and will get the job done. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a high-end synthetic oil filter, then Purolator Boss filter is literally the pinnacle of all oil filters. Okay, a little bit of a drag but if you’re looking for an oil filter for your daily vehicle, look no further. We’ve have used these Boss filters in the past and works out great. My review is based on the PBL14612 oil filter for my 2021 Mazda 3 Hatchback.Purolator Boss Oil Filter: Made in USA! 🇺🇸 (Fayetteville, NC)Rated for 15,000 miles, the oil filter itself is well made. 8 average size inlet holes, silicone anti-drain back valve, and the media is a 100% synthetic media and reminds me of a blend between synthetic and nano-technologies medias used in other racing filters. The media itself is reinforced so the media can withstand a lot of abuse. It’s super strong and you can’t rip of the media itself. (Look up videos online to see these filters cut open) The gasket is an ethylene-acrylic and seems to hold up well from my last oil change. It also has a steel casing which can withstand higher burst pressures. The shell seems very durable and it’s painted very beautifully, probably the best paint job on an oil filter ever.Competitors: Purolator Boss competes with Fram Ultra Guard or Fram Titanium, Champion Laboratories (VP Racing), Wix XP, Napa Platinum, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Royal Purple etc. In comparison from Purolator Boss PBL14612 to VP Racing 2876 for my 2021 Mazda 3 Hatchback, both filters are phenomenal. However, I prefer the Purolator Boss more simply because, it’s taller perhaps more filter media. Heavier when compared to VP2876 and it has the steel casing inside.Pros:- Everything!Cons:- Price: I wish it was a bit cheaper since $16.99 seems too much for an oil filter.- Gasket is a bit too skinny.Verdict: Hands down, one of the greatest synthetic oil filters on the market today. The overall construction of the oil filter and the reputation from Purolator backed by Mann + Hummel (OEM Filters for Mercedes-Benz) is a really good sell. Many filter heads have praised the Boss filters for being great. I believe the boss filters can go up to 15,000 miles however, manufactures always recommend to follow oil change intervals on your owners manual. I will never put my engine in such stress so I change my oil and filter every 5,000 miles just for safety. I don’t necessarily need the boss filter for my application but, I use the boss filter anyways simply because of the prestigious quality.
