We love jars for food storage and these look great on the counter with flour, sugar and rice in them. My only complaint is the lids don't screw on smoothly and they're also kind of flimsy. Unfortunately you also can't buy replacement lids (one came dented) and I haven't found anything the that fits them as a replacement either.

This is my 2nd 1.5 gallon jar as I accidentally cracked my first one due to adding the hot tea to the cool (but unfortunately, not cold) water in the jar while making kombucha. I was very pleased to see that this size was still available so immediately ordered a replacement which arrived quickly. This 1.5 gallon vessel allows 1 gallon of kombucha which is perfect for making eight 16 oz individual kombucha bottles for the second fermentation. I drink kombucha daily so need to have plenty on hand, which is why I prefer this size. Highly recommend!

It's glass, hasn't broken yet. But man the lid is trash, you can tighten it as hard as you can but the metal will still flex and if you're holding it by the mouth the lid will let gallon slip and fall... Twice now this has happened, I thought I didn't tighten it enough and it turned loose, no it flexed off the jar. Past the return window but maybe I can save some poor soul the hassle of having to pick up dog food out of dirt.
