The largest democracy in the world is under threat from a fascist ideology. Aakar Patel has done a great job of explaining it.

Excellent comprehensive analysis of the Modi regime and its transformation of this once great experiment in secular democracy into a reactionary ethnic nationalist project. It no doubt will displease Hindu supremacist and their army of internet trolls as well as the RSS and its provocateurs of Indian illiberalism, but it will certainly be well received by those who think critically about the Indian democratic project and the threat posed by the narrow sectarian ideology of Hindutva and/or Moditva

Unfortunately it has become ritual within left-wing circles to offer their critique of India through what Rajiv Malhotra calls Western Universalism, that is, seeing another culture as inherently exotic and therefore misunderstood because of its difference to the observer ideas. The content of this book is no different. Left wing academics, including Jaffrelot here, have continued to pounce on Hindu insecurities, predominately because India is a conservative country who doesn’t seek to define national progress based on identity politics only, like is found here in America. The fact of matter is is that India is one of the last portals the world has to an ancient civilization, who is still also currently going strong. Why would such a country prefer to change? Why would they not be conservative about policy and what influence comes into their borders? They have the most rich spiritual tradition the world knows, and once the materialist and disenchanted West infiltrates their society, it will be gone forever and rebranded as a creation of their own, just like what Christianity did to Paganism. This book is the typical smears of “Modi is bad,” “BJP is bad,” and “India lives backwards because of their treatment of minorities.” You won’t find anything new here. If you’re truly interested in India and it’s authentic presentation, check out the work of Rajiv Malhotra or the nonprofit COHNA. Stay away from this work, which has clear tactics that ride off of a deeper agenda.

Bad book. Nothing true. The author lives in fallacy land.

The author is not objective but is not necessarily lying either. His explanations of Modi's strategies seem correct. However, his anecdotal examples of Hindu, majoritarian, misdeeds in a vast country of 1.2 billion people are not adequate to prove many of his conclusions. Only time will tell where India, like the USA and Israel that are going thru similar threats, may end up.

“Atrocity Literature” is a psychological warfare which the West has been using for centuries to subjugate, control, digest and ultimately destroy native cultures and civilizations. This, when supported by media can have a devastating, long lasting and sometimes permanent effect on that target civilization/culture. It is particularly dangerous, because it makes the people of a civilization, which is being targeted; believe that those who are trying to destroy them are their saviors. The West has successfully used this against Native Americans, African Blacks, Hindu civilization in the Indian Continent (Akhanda Bharat) and many other Hindu-Pagan places it destroyed, committed physical and cultural genocides, enlisting Christian Missionaries/Church, NGO’s, Western/Indian Academic institutions, Private Western Foundations, Human/Animal Right groups, Media, and Western Governments – have all used Atrocity Literature to undermine India and her civilization. Jafferlot's "Hindu Nationalism and the Rise of Ethnic Democracy" is such an atrocity literature inteded to destroy the most endangered ancient Hindu civilization.

I opted not to buy the book after I listened to a talk given by the author on the subject . He has accumulated lots of statistics but gives a deceptive and dishonest interpretation to their meaning. He reminded me of the Baptist missionaries who tried to evangelize India in the early 19 th century and when they could make no dent started spreading misinformation and untruths about Hindu religion in the UK forcing Parliament to compel the East India Company to fund evangelical missionary activity in India. The leftists of the world are very much like the missionaries of the past intent on destroying ancient civilizations and imposing on the world an atheistic materialist culture devoid of all morality.

First and foremost, I did not purchased the book from Amazon and it is okay if Amazon admin decide to not publish the review. I am writing this review only to let readers know that the author claims to be an expert in 5000+ years old civilization just because he can speak Hindi language. This book is just propaganda and I and 1000s like personally wrote and invited the author to an open public discussions about his claims but no one ever received any response ever. Author is known to have a political agenda and this book is just to support a fake narrative
