Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens - 5175B002 (Renewed)

This is the lens I should’ve bought years ago. Color and contrast are fantastic. Surgically sharp. Focus is instant and silent. It’s expensive and heavy, but you’ll forget all about that the first time you use it. Sell your car, cancel those home improvements, send your kids to community college instead of an expensive university… whatever it takes, get this lens.

Since the mirrorless cameras have become so popular, really great renewed and used EF lenses have become available. I purchased this from Amazon Renewed and it is in purrfect condition (no pun intended). Although there is a small gamble buying used camera equipment, the gamble is greatly reduced by Amazon's liberal return policy.The lens performs perfectly. I can't imagine faster auto focusing. There is no scratches or distortion of the lenses. Images are sharp at all aperture settings. No noticeable vignetting. The lens body appears new.If you are considering a used lens Amazon Renewed is the way to go.

I was charged a fee when I should not have been charged, for returning the lens because it does not perform as stated.It was returned within the required time frame.

Amazing lens! When I first starting buying L-series glass I was back and forth between the 24-70 2.8 and the 24-105 4.0. Although they were rated extremely close, I originally went with the 24-105 because one review said, "If I had one lens to put on my camera while walking around the city, I'd take the 105 for the extra reach.". It was good advice, BUT, after getting the 24-70 2.8 and shooting them both, the clarity and sharpness of the 24-70 is just better than my 105. I tend to shoot more indoor pictures over the winter (lots of high school sports and theatrical events) so the 2.8 aperture, even without the IS has been a big improvement in the finished products. Highly recommended and with the Amazon deferred interest plans on their credit cards, it's like leasing the lens for 12 months and being able to keep it in the end.

All outward appearances this lens looks pretty good, however....I compared it to a brand new lens (Exact same model) that my friend just bought in order to compare the two. The renewed lens was just slightly slower to auto focus / "follow focus" than the new lens. This is a huge deal. I thought it was safe to buy this lens since the seller and Amazon both cover returns if an item is defective. I contacted the seller to return the lens and they approved the return but said that if they determined nothing is wrong with the lens I would have to pay a restocking fee of SEVERAL Hundred dollars! I don't want to risk losing that much money just because a stranger decides the lens "works fine". Save your money and buy brand new or from a reputable seller with a better return policy.
