This stuff is amazing! Just don't get it in your hair or on your clothes
I have been using this stuff for years. I originally got it to stop the ants from getting into my plant stock and ruining my grow. I "painted" the thick goop all around the perimeter of the smart pot base and it immediately stopped all walking insects and forest rodents from trying to get to my plants. I had a bad ant problem at my house and thought of this stuff to see if it would help. The ants were coming in from behind the baseboards and no matter what I tried I couldn't get them to stop, until I used this sticky stuff. I had to remove the baseboards from several rooms, took a paint brush and brushed the entire perimeter of the room and put the baseboards back on. I haven't had a single ant enter any of the rooms that had issues. Only thing I don't like about this stuff is it is VERY sticky. If you get it in your hair or on your clothes, it is next to impossible to remove it from either.

All the Other Tricks did Work
I Have 11 fruit trees and the ants were planting aphids on them faster than I could brush them off. I tried everything, like inside-out duct tape, vaseline, package tape, the ants would just walk right over all of them. It did help when I sprayed neem oil (until the next rain) and when I created little honey/borax traps in little water bottles on the ground at the base of the tree. I also threw down corn meal mixed with borax on the ground. Those killed a lot of ants, but there were always a few still caring for the aphids on my new leaves. Finally I ordered this terrible sticky stuff and it's work perfectly. It was easy to apply with a disposable stick (definitely wear some disposable rubber gloves) and it holds onto any insect that touches it. No ant problem since applying it, and it's caught a number of other types of bugs. Rain doesn't effect its stickiness, and it looks like one quick application will last the whole season. I have plenty of product left for years to come.

Did the job, but super messy!
This product did save the lives of three of my Quaking Aspen trees that were being devoured alive by ants. However, by the time I got the product in place, and even with gloves on, I had super gooey stuff stuck to my arms in patches. I had to throw the gloves out after one use, and the stuff that got stuck on my hands stayed there until I rubbed some Goo-Gone on them!

Super sticky but works like a charm!
Make sure to wear gloves when using this because it will stick everywhere! But, it does the job and catches bugs and especially ants. I put it at the base of my hummingbird feeder so stop ants from climbing it and also at the base of my lemon tree which had multiple trails of ants on it. It lasts through waterings too.

Not as good as Tanglefoot, but works.
If you’re a beekeeper looking for Tanglefoot, but are having trouble finding it, this is a good alternative. It helps keep the ants from entering the hive. Just don’t find it as sticky as Tanglefoot and it seems to melt in the sun easier than Tanglefoot.

Spotted lantern flies enemy!
Purchased to catch spotted lantern flies, if you don't know what they are, wait a few minutes and you will. They are taking over the country, destroying anything and everything. They are fond of vegetation in general and are hard to kill. If you try and step on them they jump before you can get them. The trick is to get your foot in front of them. They can only jump forward, so if you get in front they have to jump into your foot! Remember where you learned this... Anyways, resistance is futile, their is not enough feet in the world to stomp them all out! They spread and multiply faster than rabbits on spring break. You will be amazed that the first time you see them you will see thousands of them, then next year a million of them will be there! Then they are literally every place you look, covering your entire house! No exaggerating! The trick to this is that they lay their eggs in trees and at night they walk up the trees and homes and everything else to eat sleep and reproduce. So you wrap the tree a few feet of the ground with some plastic food wrap or shrink wrap and then spread this sticky stuff onto the plastic all the way around the tree. The next day it is covered by thousands of flies! That's when you are grateful I gave you the plastic wrap advice. Just peel it off and toss it out and start over again. Your mind is going to be blown at the amount of these flies you will catch daily. Only bad part is that this large tub isn't going to put a dent in the population and you will be going insane with how many their are. Stock up on this stuff though because this is about the best stuff you can find for the job, I tried everything else and this brand is the best! It isn't going to be a cure for the problem at all, but if you have fruit trees or any food baring tree, they will destroy in just days. And they haven't found any type of insecticide that even touches these things. But even if they did, would you want it on your food? So this is it! Get it now before the price climbs up. It's not an if it happens situation, it is going to happen and it's happening fast! They spread across 2 states in a year or less, they have no enemy and they have nothing to fear, if it can kill them, it can kill anything. This is a chemical free solution that won't put a dent in the problem but can save the tree it's on!Again, this is not a drill! Buy it now!

Not effective for adult spotted lantern flies--They laugh at it
I first tried the Catchmaster Tree Shield Insect Barrier glue TAPE. Over a few weeks, with about 30 traps, I caught thousands of of small, immature spotted lantern flies. But the adult lantern flies walk up to the tape, feel it a bit with the long feet, and then walk away without getting stuck. So I figured the gloppy tree banding glue, also made by Catchmaster, would do the trick. I was wrong. This very messy glue caught very few adult lantern flies. (Just a few of the dumber ones.) As with the tape, the spotted guys would touch the glue a bit and then go down the tree away from the glue. A few even walked all the way onto the glue and still managed to walk away. This messy stuff that will stick to anything else, including your fingers, does not stick to lantern fly feet all that well. Also, in the 90° heat we’ve been having, large globs of the glue dripped off the plastic wrap and onto the tree. I suspect the glue may not be good for the tree.I'm not impressed with these Catchmaster products. Effective for small lantern flies only.
