Heated quickly which is good since when cutting .75" styrophome, it cooled and slowed. Easy fix was reposition along the rod, cut until it slowed, and repeat. Worked like a charm.It's made cheaply, but I needed it for a single job over the course of a week, and it didn't disappoint.

This has literally got to be the best product I’ve ever purchased on Amazon! I had a lot of packing styrofoam accumulating because I couldn’t cut it down to fit in garbage bags. Not any more! This handy little tool cuts through styrofoam like a hot knife through butter! I love it! I definitely recommend it!!

The good news is that this pen worked well on 1 1/4" Styrofoam I was cutting, but it didn't work for long. I didn't use the pen for any sort of extended period of time (like 30 continuous minutes). I was using it to cut one 20" line at a time and would turn it off between cuts. So that would be about 2 minutes of use and at least 5 or 10 minutes of rest. The first day, the pen did great. The second day I used it, the pen / transformer / whatever completely died after making two 20" cuts. I'd estimate that I'd had it turned on for only about 4 minutes on day 2 and turned it off between cuts. I can't find any warranty information in the package and on the seller's store website. There is no contact info on the instruction sheet and I don't see any on their website. So I guess I"m SOUL. If someone contacts me to correct the problem, I'll update my review.

This works really well, but it is so hot it is hard to cut a straight line because of how fast it cuts. I use a metal ruler to keep the hot tip from veering off the straight line. It does get the job done.

I've wanted to create a Christmas diorama for awhile. Step 1: acquire foam. Step 2: get a foam cutter! This was so much fun, I want to create other pieces now. I was very happy with this purchase. It does smell while it melts the foam away, so I was working outside. Even in New England in December. But with the cuts I wanted to make already drawn on in marker, it was very quick, efficient work. Great value, great power, and seems durable too.

I seem to put too much stress on the hot cutting wire/blade. Mine is permanently bent but still ok to use. Did mention that this is the lowest price so you can just buy another.

Pretty easy to use, small compact size, cuts styrofoam fast, and the price isn't bad. I used it to cut styrofoam for some prop swords for a cosplay.

The media could not be loaded. I needed to cut an inch off the side of 4 cushions to make them fit on my couch. I purchased this foam cutter, without fully reading the description, so when I got it and realized it is only for low density foam, I was considered, as these cushions have high density foam. But I figured if it didn't work, I would at least have a tool for other projects, but it did!! It WAS a bit of a struggle and not the smoothest execution at first, but once I got the hang of it, this tool was effective. I imagine it would be even more effective on a low density foam project. The thing you rest it on seems a little flimsy, but does the job! All in all, this was a great value for the money.
