Rio Grande Games Dominion: 2nd Edition Board Game Update Pack for 156 months to 9600 months

I bought this card pack because I'm collecting the complete Dominion, but this would be a great low-cost way to improve your base game if that's all you have. These cards are a huge improvement over the ones they replace. Vassal in particular adds a game mechanic that's super fun for newcomers to figure out how to leverage.But that's not why I'm writing this review. I'm doing that to thank the seller candcgames for including a promo card and an extra card along with my purchase, tucked into a little card sleeve, sliced into the cellophane outer packaging. Not sure of the logic of including Pathfinding, though anyone who doesn't already own Adventures may appreciate it, but Summon is one of my favorite events to leverage when I play online, and I didn't have an easy way of getting it myself. Thanks candcgames! Now I just have to figure out how to get the rest of those promos, and how to "downgrade" my 2nd edition Intruige.

Great new cards for Dominion. First edition Dominion was a very good game but suffered from the fact that too many of the cards were weak and would only rarely be used in a game between skilled players. That made the game less interesting (though this was quickly fixed if you bought expansions). In the second edition, six of the weakest/most boring cards were removed and replaced with seven stronger/more interesting cards.This update pack gives you the seven stronger/more interesting cards that were added in the second edition to go with your first edition Dominion game. You can just get rid of the six replaced cards (since I had a number of expansions, I already wasn't using the replaced cards anyway). This improvement is particularly valuable for people who only own a small number of sets, because you see each card more often.The card quality is excellent. It also comes with randomizer cards and a new insert for the first edition Dominion box showing you which card goes where.

I love Dominion (1) because it's one of the best games ever, and (2) because Rio Grande and Donald X respect and like their customers. This is just another sign of that! Unlike Catan and its endless new editions to try to force you to spend more money on nothing and increasingly low quality, these are awesome quality and they MATCH the first edition. Had the original but wanted the updated cards which are completely different. We use both editions when playing.

A great update to the base set of my favorite game. I own all the expansions, and we had stopped playing the first base game because it was relatively boring and had some dud cards. These new cards really perk the game up yet. It may not be as exciting as the Adventures expansion, but then it is not supposed to be. This is the base set that you introduce new players to, and it now is a very worthwhile game. Footnote is that I bought the full 2nd edition myself so that I could get the new set of victory/treasure/curse cards and the minor rewording on a few other cards. But this update pack is a cost efficient way to upgrade existing sets. I bought this set for family, but it turned out they already had it, so I gave it to some friends.

The box is small but filled with goodness. The new cards are well designed, and I really like the fact that the publisher made an upgrade pack available for the 2nd edition (rather than expecting me to buy the entire game again).This set adds just the cards that the 2nd edition has but the 1st edition did not have. The box also comes with a card organizer for the new cards. However, the insert only labels the cards that ar in the 2nd edition, but omits the cards from 1st edition that 2nd edition no longer has -- that's a bit annoying, since I obvious own the entire 1st edition (or I wouldn't be buying the upgrade pack) and thus want to have all my cards labeled, new and old. They are totally compatible so why did they assume I would stop using the old ones or not want them organized?

This is a small upgrade to dominion, It adds the cards that were added in the second edition. I guess you could get rid of the ones that are supposed to be removed for the second edition, but I just leave them in. Always interested in having more options in my dominion games.

Bought this for sister for Christmas. We played it and adds a different flavor to the original game. Can't say it is better than the original, but definitely as fun as the base set.
